They are the Albuquerque Whippet Fanciers Association, an AKC affiliate and former ASFA affiliate, and the East Slope Coursing Association, an ASFA Feather at ESCA practice, Los Lunas, NM affiliate. Both clubs have run lure coursing trials, which are limited to the sighthound breeds, since the sport's inception back in the early 1970's.

Breeds allowed to participate in ESCA events are: Afghan hounds, Azawahks, Basenji, Borzoi, Cirneco Dell Etnas, Greyhounds, Ibizan hounds, Irish Wolfhounds, Italian Greyhounds, Peruvian Inca Orchids, Pharaoh hounds, Rhodesian Ridgebacks, Saluki, Scottish Deerhounds and Whippets.

AKC eligible breeds are limited to those sighthound breeds recognized by the AKC: Afghans, Basenji, Borzoi, Greyhounds, Ibizan hounds, Irish Wolfhounds, Pharaoh hounds, Rhodesian Ridgebacks, Saluki, Scottish Deerhounds and Whippets.
