NEXT MEETING -- Vehicle Monitoring System
Ed Murray will discuss and demonstrate a locally designed and developed
computer-based vehicle monitoring system used in thousands of vehicles.
The
Post Office, Telkom and Putco are examples of companies using this
unit. The
system monitors, measures and logs numerous vehicle parameters and
communicates with a base station over a radio link. It controls access
to
the vehicle and records the frequency and length of time any operator
uses
the vehicle; monitors and records distance, speed, and engine RPM;
tracks
and records vehicle use and abuse; and, acts like a Black Box' in the
event
of an accident. The unit being demonstrate does not have GSM fitted,
but a
newer generation currently under test uses this technology. And it fits
in
your pocket!
Pretoria Computer Club's Home Page
Thanks to Nick Michael the Pretoria Computer Club has its own web
page(s).
Nick designed the pages and put them together in such a manner that the
secretary only has to copy and paste to get the information out on the
web'. The web page consists of a home page, as well as pages for the
next
meeting, last meeting, all previous meetings, news, a list of web sites
and
feedback.
Nick has been very busy! And we certainly appreciate his work.
