My Dying Diary #21

Here I am again!

Life is wonderful when you don't allow anyone to fuck up your happiness.
OK, OK, so it's been a while.

I decided that I did not want to spend another winter in Oklahoma, so we winterized the house and came to Texas. And Texas is wonderful!

Well, let me take that back... parts of Texas are wonderful. The part that we are in is wonderful. We are just north of Houston, on, naturally, a lake.

Murleen and Erin are with me, of course. We seem to have settled into a relationship that is a lot like three old married people. Comfortable enough that nobody wants to change anything, yet somehow... stultifying. We are all happy with what we have, but we are are vaguely restless.

Erin's romance with the guy across the lake in Oklahoma didn't work out very well, and the end was bitter, and we all wound up hating the bastard. Well, hate is not the right word... we are all just glad that he's out of our lives. He was not really the kind of guy that we want to associate with.

The house that we're living in is only available until April Fool's day, then we will probably go back to Oklahoma. I know the fella real well that owns this place, and he is out of the country until then. He is involved in selling/leasing real estate in Porto Rico, of all places. This lake Conroe house is one of his normal winter homes, and usually his main base of operations here in the states.

He's kind of an enigma for me. He's unmarried and seems to have no interest in the opposite sex. Or the same sex, either. He lives (as far as I can tell) an completely asexual life. His "friends" are all people of both sexes who can do him some good in the real estate world.

And he has an ISDN line to the internet. Which is, as they say, Way Cool!

He reminds me of myself of twenty years ago. It ain't even funny. My main interest was making money... I had a wife because everyone expected me to. I had a kid to keep the wife happy and occupied, and so her mom and dad could have a grandkid. Keep everyone happy and off my back so I could pile up the cash. What a life... what a waste.

The fishing on this lake isn't really very good, but the scenery is wonderful. Different than Grand Lake, beautiful in a different, flatland kind of way.

The girls and I have been occupying ourselves in various ways... the bar scene here is way different that in Oklahoma, we haven't found the really friendly little place that we'd like to. The "neighborhood" bars do not cater to people in the neighborhood; there seems to be no regular clientele. And the upscale places are like chain stores for the distribution of drinks, no local color there at all.

So, anyway, we seem to go on a lot of day trips. In spite of what I said earlier, about seeming to be old married people, we really click when it comes to enjoying each others company. We have a lot of fun together, whether we're doing something special or just hanging around.

And that's it for this time.

Oh yeah! The docs say I'm still healthy as a horse!
