Yesterday Zoe called at work, and sure enough he asked if I could go along anyway, and the answer was no. Though he kept saying afterwards that this was because she wasn't hungry. I was annoyed at him for asking. Plus I had this vibe that I should really keep out of Zoe's way right now- I didn't know why, really, she wasn't mad at me-, but I left work before she was supposed to come over and hid in the lunch room until my appointment time came around.
About an hour later, I'm talking to Melissa on IRC, and she called Rem. They were at Silver Dragon (ahem, not hungry? I don't think so...). I was annoyed about that, but she had more drastic news. She said he seemed really like "I don't want to say anything on the phone", and she asked him if he was looking forward to a good time or a bad time, and he said he didn't know. Then she asked if he was nervous, and he said yes.
Maybe a half-hour later, Zoe came on IRC and asked if she could come over and cry...he had dumped her again. Shocking...again I was thinking "So soon? We were just talking about how she gets the winter holidays..."I'd thought Rem was just going to bring her over here and split, but he didn't. He stayed around the whole time, which amazed me. Heck, I can't even get guys to break up with me in person usually. She cried, sandwiched in between the two of us...Sad to think it'd be the last time we'd all hang out together (who knows if they'll ever be friends again or not), and that I probably won't see her again. She said she'd figured it was going to be over, but would die out gradually...she was pretty pissed that she hadn't broken up with him first, wished he'd broken up with her while she was at home in Santa Cruz also.
I did get to ask him when he'd decided to do this, and he said "about 30 seconds before I did it." His explanations (such as they ever are with Remington) were that he doesn't feel safe with her, and she doesn't understand him. Zoe asked if I understood him, and he said something like "Let's not get into that one now." I take that to mean I don't. Well, I try, but there's a few things I just can't relate to. Then again, seeing as how he's always saying he doesn't understand himself, how are the rest of us supposed to do it? How annoying. Felt like asking "You gonna break up with me too for that?"
Anyway, they both ended up with stomachaches, but hers was pretty bad, she slept a lot of the night. She wanted to flee to Berkeley and stay at Damon's, but wasn't able to drive, so Rem went out on the futon in the guest bedroom and she was in my room. Oy.
She left this morning 8ish. He hasn't woken up yet (it's 9:27). I'm wondering what'll happen when he wakes up. What it'll be like to be the only girlfriend (how weird). If he's gonna want to flee to Rumsey for private time when he gets up (knowing him, probably).
What a mess.
7:48 p.m. update: Once Rem woke up (at 11:30- well, I had to go wake him up at that point), he seemed pretty ok. Realized Zoe had left, didn't say much in general today about it (said after awhile he was fine, though). We got two sets of fridge magnets (Zen and computers), and Evan (who came over last night in the midst of the hubbub) and Jess were putting them up. Rem said he'd gotten up at two a.m. and helped them put some up.
So I went out to look at them, and notice one at the bottom that said "Why love me?" So I wander in, saying "I wonder who did that" (in my defense, there was the possibility that he hadn't done it), and he kinda snarls, "Who do you think?" Ouch.
We basically just hung out here, being quiet today, though he was in a better mood. Though he was asked by Greg how it went last night, or something like that (also Bill), and to both of them he said he was down to one girlfriend. Greg was something along the lines of "only one, huh? Hmmmmm..." (that makes me wonder, though according to Rem Greg is actually interested in Mike R (that's just too funny). Bill asked who the winner was. Rem replied in the same vein of "Who do you think?" and after he guessed right, made some remarks about him going to the quadruple bonus round. Then said that "win" is debatable- I'm the one who got stuck with him. (sheesh) Melissa (through Bill) asked what happened, but he didn't answer her. I'm kinda curious about that myself. Wondering if it'll come up tonight- later on we're going to her place.
