Spent my entire naval career in naval aviation. Had one tour in a patrol squadron early in my career. All other sea duty was in carrier squadrons or ship's company on aircraft carriers. To this day, I still dream of my duty on those great ships. A memoria of this type is lasting but it is people who must pass on this legacy and it is our duty and responsibility to pass on the aircraft carrier legacy to future generations. They are an important part of naval history and must never be forgotten.

AO2 with VF-84(F4-Js), Jolly Rogers, two med cruises, all the carr-quals, shackdowns, etc. Time aboard ship was one of the highlights of a lifetime (though most of us didn't realize it at the time!). Still get a proud feeling when I see movies, either o d or new, about flight ops on the deck of a carrier. Mr. Webmaster, thanks for the effort, nice page!

Lex was the pride of the Pacific Fleet. She served us well as the Navy's in the Gulf of Mexico for 30 years. The USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75) will be commissioned July 1998. Point of interest for Oriskany and Tripoli sailors; both ships are at Mare Island waiting to be scrapped. Hornet CV12 is at Alameda.

Am proud to have served aboard the Boxer. When we entered a foreign port the men were proud to stand at attention on the flight deck as the ship drew near the docks. I was in charge of the print shop with my shipmate Kenneth Robinson whom I stay in conta t with. The memorial is a true need for us.

I'm proud to say I was an "Airdale." Served on the Coral Sea in 1964 and was discharged hours before it sailed for the South China Sea. I was an ABH2 in the V3 division. We liked to have broke the "43 boat" during training for Nam off of Catalina Islan . We set the record for "traps" and never saw anything but the hanger and flight deck for 72 straight hours. Memories I will never forget! Good luck and fair sailing to your group.

I have been an avid follower of aircraft carriers since I was a kid. My comments are directed towards any members of the CV-13, U.S.S. Benjamin Franklin that are still with us. I hope you guys are remembered well. The Franklin was built in 13 months and was commisioned as no. 13. Most people would not ha e touched that ship with a ten-foot pole, but the men on board broke the jinx. Even after suffering one the worst kamakaize attacks of the war, the men of the Franklin managed to make repairs and eventually sail back to New York under their own power. All the best from someone who has a lot of respect for all the people who have served on flattops, past, present and future.
