Dear Sir/Madam I am writing this in behalf of my father, Earl T. Hunt, who is now 74 and
was on the Lady Lex when she went down in the Coral Sea on May 8th, 1942. He was a rear
gunner and attained the rank of Lieutenant. The reason I'm sending this to you is because
my father asked me if I would surf the Internet and see if I could find ANYTHING on the
original Lexington (CV-2). He has lost so much out of his scrap book over the past 56
years and is trying to replace as uch of it as he can. If there is anything you could send
me or any site you could direct me to, I would sincerely appreciate it. All I have been
able to find so far is a few pictures and a one paragraph account on when she went down.
    Thank you, Jack E. Hunt

I served on the Valley Forge as a signalmen in OS div. These were two of my best years and
I still think of my time aboard a great ship. Am proud of the Navy and all of the men who
rode the "carriers". TKS for the great site. John Boles |

Congrats on your efforts for the carrier sailors. Enjoyed the comments and wanted to be
part of it. The 'Lady Champ' is now history, but never forgotten by those who served on
her. Also, I have a brother who served on the Arkansas, BB-33, WWII. Would lik to hear
from anyone served on this BB to relay to him. |

This is the best site that I have found about aircraft carriers and felt that THE FIGHTING

My father, William Preston Mccain, served aboard the USS Saratoga during WWII. He
received, I believe, two Bronze Stars for his service. His stories of the war always
intrigued me. I am told that he wrote home about being under attack and the sea water
washing the blood of his fellow countrymen off the deck as the SARA took a wave. I am 51
years old. Pop died about 17 years ago. I would be honored to receive any mail re. those
who served with my dad. I have a SARA book. Please write. |
