UK:"We are England's biggest slacker export" Gavin Rossdale (Reuters/March/97)

Week of Oct 20/97: Music paper The Melody Maker carried an interview in which Gavin was quoted: "My plan is to make a couple more records with the band, and then I just want to do film music. I know that dignity is not a word that has been heavily associated with me in the English press, but I would like to be on stage for only as long as it's relevant. Maybe I've got a couple more moments in me, and then like any other old f***er who used to be in a band, I'll cash in on my previous success. Probably my only ambition is to write a record like Nick Cave's album about Polly Harvey. A great record to f*** to." (thanks to La-La-Lucinda for this).

Bush played the Reading Festival, 24 August, and did more gigs in October. Complete listings at amBUSH Tour Dates which is also worth checking for it's preferred tickets for fan club members programme.

There's a Gavin interview from Feb/97, complete with sound bytes, at PA Press in which he talks about Bush's US vs.UK success, what the onstage experience is like and more.

On February 5th./97 Bush taped an appearance on that country's perennially cheesy TV chart show "Top of the Pops" and played to sold out venues in several cities in Spring/97. The last stop on their European tour was a sold out gig, March 1st in Shepherd's Bush, London. RBSC, released in the UK in January, reached #2 within a month of its release, while Swallowed entered the charts at #7 ;complete charts atNME Online.

Capital Radio's site will give you a taste of the UK music scene, if your digestion can take it.

Ireland:Bush played a couple of dates in the Fall/97: Belfast Ulster Hall, Oct 12 & Dublin SFX, Oct 13.
The video for Personal Holloway was shot in Dublin in the Spring (97). Gavin also spent a couple of weeks in a "small" white Irish castle and is rumoured to have bought a place in Dalkey (an upscale area of Dublin), for 200,000 pounds. He's reportedly spending early '98 writing material for the fourth album in Ireland, variously rumoured to be County Cork/County Galway/Dublin.
