The Radio 1 interviewed Danny and Steve about the forthcoming as-yet untitled new album. Read the transcript of the interview here at the R1 web site. In it Danny says the band is more creatively confident and that the 2nd album is more musically diverse than the first.
Oh yeah, and Merry Christmas. Don't get too pissed.
Both MelodyMaker and NME have featured Embrace in the past few weeks, some of
the bits will be up here shortly.
The web department of Carlton TV recently
conducted an exclusive interview with Richard. Go and listen to it in RealAudio
here at The VideoTech
Website.
Richard sings on the lead track, and it has been most commonly been described as a sort-of cross between Gomez and Beck, but listen to it for yourself.. The B sides are more like their usual stuff.
The new single will be called Hooligan and will be out on Monday 1st November. You can listen to it at the official Embrace site from 8pm tonight. Otherwise, don't forget to tune into Radio 1 tomorrow (Tuesday) evening for the song's first airplay.
NEW MATERIAL - at long last!!!!
Not too long to wait now!!
Hello ladies and gents, just to let you know that the website isn't dead or anything, I've just had some evil exams so I've been a bit busy. Embrace have finished demoing around 30-40 new songs and should have started to record the new album
Thanks to everyone who's sent in corrections for the lyrics and other stuff, I'll be working my way through the website sorting stuff out over the next week or so. Keep those contributions / suggestions coming in!
Added a review of the Norwich gig in September where they played a new song. Cheers to Neil.
This is NOT a proper single, all tracks have been previously released on CD but not on vinyl. This is just to cater for vinyl buyers who have been missing out. The EPs will not be eligible for the charts.
WHY IS THIS HAPPENING? FIND OUT HERE!
Congratulations to Mick Dale - the long time keyboard player and orchestral composer for Embrace - he's now an official member of the band. He's always been virtually part of Embrace, but now he can appear in all the pictures and stuff I s'pose.... The reason why he wasn't a full time member to start off with is cos at the time he was in other local Leeds bands as well.
Japanese and European gig dates for later this year have been announced and they're here.
I've added a new review
of The Good Will Out - from a New Zealand music mag called "Rip It Up".
Cheers to Lizzie for this.
Some more gig reviews have been sent in so check
them out.
Embrace kicked off their UK tour last Friday. Support is from Delakota.
Embrace will be making a couple of telly appearences this weekend so get your
video recorders at the ready. Cheers to Cat and Malcolm Nisbet for this info.

In the interview Danny said that the band

for the Good Will Out. (or something along those lines.)
Updated 17th July
Finally managed to update the favourite
tracks chart.
The release of The Good Will Out in Australia is imminent. Apparently the
band is "virtually unheard of" over there and the release is going to be
low-key. For those of you living near Sydney you might be interested to know
that there is a plan for a tie-in-night of "Popscene" alternative music night at
The Rooftop, Kings Cross Hotel. For more info click here.

a review of the band's Glasters performance.
UK tour coming up in September, followed by a US tour in October. Dates are soon to be announced.
According to "rumours": The next single should be My Weakness Is None Of Your Business. More details below.
Both US and Japanese releases of the album apparently contain the new version of Blind, which will also appear in Britain in one way or another, sooner or later.
Solo tab for The Good Will Out added.
News Update 24th June
Embrace's Glastonbury performance this weekend (Fri
night, headlining 2nd stage - as if you'd have forgotten!) will be broadcast
live on Radio 1 and included in the TV coverage on BBC2. Parts of it will
feature on Radio 1 Jo Whiley's show on Saturday.
The band is likely to be touring the UK (and maybe US too) later this summer, possibly around September. Keep your eyes here for more info!
The identity of the next single is yet to be confirmed, but it is in two formats again, one featuring two tracks off the legendary Abbey Road sessions, and the other including 2 new tracks as B-sides which are currently being recorded. (Under the new UK charts regulations, singles can have a maximum of only 3 tracks per CD to be eligible for the charts. Arse!)
AROUND THE WORLD:
Updated 17th June
The Good Will Out went Gold last Monday on its first
day of release. And then (quite rightly so) it went on to reach on the UK
albums chart, outselling its nearest rival 3 to 1. If for some reason any of you
in Britain haven't got it yet, I suggest you go buy it!
Updated 11th June
Yes, at long last the album's out and of course its
bloody marvellous!!!
The HMV gig on the night of the album launch was splendid. They played basically all the album tracks except Now You're Nobody, plus Blind. The sound quality was superb. Just one problem was that it seemed to me that the crowd response was in general not quite up to scratch, at least compared to Oxford. This however wasn't the case when One Big Family came on when the crowd suddenly went apeshit.(one crowd-surfer was seen to fall on top of the NME cameraman who was in between the stage and the audience.) Press conferences and interviews were held I think both before and after the show, including one for MTV.
Embrace recorded a set for Jo Whileys Show on Monday, which was broadcast last night. Which I foolishly missed. So could someone please email me + tell me about it! Cheers.
- Solo for Come Back
To What You Know added.
- New chords for I Want The
World .
- Also chords for a few other songs are being updated.
Updated 4th June
The Good Will Out got a brilliant 9/10 in the NME. Here's the
review.
Embrace was on R1 Evening Session on Tuesday night. Danny and Rich were interviewed by Steve Lamacq (spelling?) and they played the album versions of Retread, My Weakness and the title track The Good Will Out which was superb.
They played a secret gig at Portsmouth on Tuesday - here's the review. I went to see them at Oxford last night and it was AMAZING. If you were there, or any other secret gigs, email me about it! (one-line comments, the setlist, or a full-scale review.. anything will do, I'll really appreciate it.) EMAIL HERE.
Embrace will be on Ch.4 Jo Whileys Show on Wednesday next week.
Guitar tabs for All You Good Good People and Dry Kids updated, and added new guitar tabs for You've Only Got To Stop To Get Better.

Sorry for lack of updates (got exams and stuff, you
know). Really briefly:
I've got more stuff to upload but I haven't got time - it'll be up very shortly once my exams are done!
Updated 21st May
Rumours are that admission to the HMV gig is via
wristbands only, which are available from the store only on the night. Otherwise
you can win wristbands through competitions on Time Out Magazine, Guardian Guide

Updated 26th March
DON'T ORDER THE JAPANESE RELEASE!! The recent ads which have appeared in the music press as well as some online CD stores about the Japanese import of the album, claiming that it'll be out in early April, is not true. So you're warned NOT to buy / order it under any circumstances!
Ever wondered what equipment the band uses to produce those fantastic sounds both on stage and in the studio? Here's a complete list of all the gear which Rich and Steve use!!!!

Updated 19th March
I've added a new "Favourite Tracks" charts according to the entries on the guestbook. This will be updated from time to time.
Rumours are that the Japanese release of the album is going to be out in early April - but I'm not sure. I doubt that the album release is going to be that early at least over here in the UK, because from what I've heard it is going to be after the next single, news of which has not yet been officially announced.
Like last year, the organisers of Glastonbury are not going to announce the official line up before the festival but Embrace is expected to headline Stage 2 on friday night.
- Tabs for One Big family updated.
Updated 3rd March
Tabs for That's All
changed for ever added.

Congratulations to Embrace for winning the award for the "Best New Band" catagory at the NME/Miller Geniune Draft ("Brat") awards!! The presentation took place at London's Brixton Academy last night, which will be televised on Channel 4 late Saturday night.

I've heard that Higher Sights is due out Jan 26th. Also they're apparently
going to be doing a session on Radio 1 sometime.
Apparently source close to
the band said that the album's coming out Feb 20something. I know - its
confusing!!
The band recieved nominations in several catagories for the NME/Miller Draft "Brat" awards. For more info check out the NME pages.
The secret gig, which was due to take place at the Camden Falcon earlier this month (9th) was cancelled because of "recording commitments".
Updated 14th Jan
Happy New Year! Apologies for lack of updates, been quite busy.
Should
have some new stuff in a couple of days (hopefully!)
I've heard that the debut album "The Good Will Out" is not scheduled for release till May - (lets hope it's wrong!!) - but I haven't heard anything official yet.
Updated 28 Nov

Updated 7 Nov
Embrace's new single "All You Good Good People EP" came out last Monday (27th Oct), and reached No. 8 in the official UK singles charts !!! Its their highest so far, but still not as high up as I expected... People in this country have bought more copies of "Barbie Girl" than AYGGP....doesn't it scare you a bit?

Updated 6 Nov
The next single after AYGGP, "Higher Sights", should be
with us by February. Whether this is going to be before or after the album
release I do not know.
Embrace recorded live in London's Abbey Road Studios on Sunday 19th Oct, in
front of an audience of Radio 1 ticket winners. They played 6 songs:
That's
All Changed for Ever
My Weakness (Is None Of Your Business)
Higher
Sights
All You Good Good People
You've Gotta Say Yes
Retread
All
these songs except the last two were recorded with a 40-piece orchestra.
Recordings were made for both radio and television. The plan is to broadcast the
video recordings on telly, possibly to coincide with the release of the band's
new album early next year.
In an interview to the Melody Maker, Danny
revealed that Richard's girlfriend has been shooting video clips behind the
scenes, which can possibly be made into a short documentary film sort of thing.
Updated 3rd Nov
Embrace is going to record for "Later with Jools Holland"
today (Mon 3/11). This will be shown on telly on Saturday...don't miss it!
Updated 29th Oct
Embrace headlined the Radio 1 Sound City '97 at Oxford Brookes University on Monday (27th), suported by Ultrasound and Travis. (sorry about earlier mistake - Gene and Scarfo played in the Zodiac Club.) They played most of the previously released favourites as well as "Higher Sights" and "Retread". The crowd also sung Happy Birthday to Rich who's turning 25 this week.
Embrace were interviewed on Jo Whiley's Show on Radio 1 on Monday 20th Oct. and the two songs "All You Good Good People" and "Higher Sights", recorded the previous day live at Abbey Road Studios, were played.
In the interview Danny revealed that the next single (after AYGGP) will be"Higher Sights"
Other Stuff (Sept 97)
