Updated 10th July
I've changed the voting booth to an automatic polling thing cos I can't be arsed to count the results up by myself. ( I know I could have done this 6843 years ago, but shit happens.)

The next single is "I Wouldn't Wanna Happen To You" and is out on August 7th, on 2 CDs and limited edition 7" (3000 copies.) The B-sides include "The First Cut" and "I Know What's Going On" while for CD2 includes "Top Of The Heap" as well as a cover of Bob Dorrough / De La Soul's "3 Is a Magic Number".
The limited 7" will have 3 Is A Magic Number as B-side. A 12" featuring all five tracks will be released 2 weeks later.
The track is a new version of the album track, re-recorded with the album's co-producer, Tristin Norwell.

The secret gig which was planned in Scotland (Loch Leven) on Sunday has apparently been cancelled due to bad weather. This follows a secret acoustic gig on the beach at Burnham-On-Sea just before Glastonbury.

The band are now apparently off to Thailand to do two gigs in Bangkok: The Future Pub on the 14th at 10:30pm, and Q-Bar on the 15th at 11pm.

Updated 6th July
Added more guitar tabs for tracks off Drawn From Memory. Cheers to Joe baker and Ian Dulley for these.

    Updated 23 Nov

Both MelodyMaker and NME have featured Embrace in the past few weeks, some of the bits will be up here shortly.
The web department of Carlton TV recently conducted an exclusive interview with Richard. Go and listen to it in RealAudio here at The VideoTech Website.

Some stuff about the new single "Hooligan":

Richard sings on the lead track, and it has been most commonly been described as a sort-of cross between Gomez and Beck, but listen to it for yourself.. The B sides are more like their usual stuff.

    Updated 20th Sept

The new single will be called Hooligan and will be out on Monday 1st November. You can listen to it at the official Embrace site from 8pm tonight. Otherwise, don't forget to tune into Radio 1 tomorrow (Tuesday) evening for the song's first airplay.

    Updated 14th Sept

    Updated 20th July

Hello ladies and gents, just to let you know that the website isn't dead or anything, I've just had some evil exams so I've been a bit busy. Embrace have finished demoing around 30-40 new songs and should have started to record the new album

Thanks to everyone who's sent in corrections for the lyrics and other stuff, I'll be working my way through the website sorting stuff out over the next week or so. Keep those contributions / suggestions coming in!

    Updated 25th April

    3rd for Best Band,
2nd for Best Album with The Good Will Out and

  • Embrace is not playing Glastonbury, and they're probably not playing any of the other festivals this year. Apparently there won't be any gigs until they've finished with the 2nd album which they're working on at the moment.
    Updated 28th Jan 99

Click here for a review of the Dublin gig last month. Cheers to Ger for this.
Also a track listing of the Japan only B sides EP. No new songs/remixes, so if you have the UK singles its not really worth buying.
Embrace on their current European tour are playing a new song, "Happy and lost" described as similar to Fireworks or Free Ride. (just thought you might be interested!)
    Updated 17th Nov

Part 2 of the legendary Abbey Road sessions is now available on limited edition only on mail order. It's got All You Good Good People, That’s All Changed Forever and You’ve Got To Say Yes on it, and it should be bloody good just like the first one (plus it's going to insert nicely into the booklet sleeve thing you got for part one) so get it. You can only get a max of two copies (one for yourself, the other as the world's best christmas present ever)
Here are the details on ordering your copy.

Added a review of the Norwich gig in September where they played a new song. Cheers to Neil.

Check out J's Official Embrace site, completely re-vamped and at the new address http://www.embrace.co.uk/.
JAPAN: The band played a storming gig at Tokyo's Liquid Room on the 9th followed by an event at HMV Shibuya where the band signed copies of the new Japan-only B sides EP. (Cheers to Manaka for this info.) Then they went on to play at Osaka where they played THREE new songs! (wow, any reviewers out there?) They might be back for Fuji rock festival in Tokyo next summer.
    Updated 9th Nov
Issue 2 of the Embrace fanzine "The Family" is out now. It's twice as big as issue 1 which was excellent so get it. Details here.
    Updated 2nd Nov
ALL the EPs to date will be released on 12" vinyl on 30th November. My Weakness EP will have an additional track: the perfecto (dancy) remix of One Big Family.
Also "The Good Will Out EP" will be released on the same day , again only available on 12".
    Track listing (not in order):
    - The Good Will Out
    - Butter Wouldn't Melt (Live at the ICA)
    - Dry Kids (Live at the ICA)
    - Blind (import version).

This is NOT a proper single, all tracks have been previously released on CD but not on vinyl. This is just to cater for vinyl buyers who have been missing out. The EPs will not be eligible for the charts.

WHY IS THIS HAPPENING? FIND OUT HERE!

    Updated 30th Oct
The next proper single is NOT going to be another off the album.
    Updated 27th Oct
Click here to visit a new Embrace guitar tab website called "We Got Guitar Tabs"
    Info from J's Embrace site:

Congratulations to Mick Dale - the long time keyboard player and orchestral composer for Embrace - he's now an official member of the band. He's always been virtually part of Embrace, but now he can appear in all the pictures and stuff I s'pose.... The reason why he wasn't a full time member to start off with is cos at the time he was in other local Leeds bands as well.

Japanese and European gig dates for later this year have been announced and they're here.

    Updated 7th Oct
Go and vote for Embrace at Q awards.
Chords for Don't Turn Your Back On Love added.
    Updated 4th Oct
Bad news for Embrace fans in N.America - the tour's been re-scheduled possibly til January. Apparently its cos Geffen doesn't think there's enough of you buying the album for the tour to be a success just yet. So come on people go and convert your friends!

I've added a new review of The Good Will Out - from a New Zealand music mag called "Rip It Up". Cheers to Lizzie for this.
Some more gig reviews have been sent in so check them out.

    Updated 15th Sept
I've now got a few reviews / setlists for some of the gigs, check the tourdates page. Keep them flowing in - if you went to see them then please post a review.

    Updated 17th July
Finally managed to update the favourite tracks chart.

The release of The Good Will Out in Australia is imminent. Apparently the band is "virtually unheard of" over there and the release is going to be low-key. For those of you living near Sydney you might be interested to know that there is a plan for a tie-in-night of "Popscene" alternative music night at The Rooftop, Kings Cross Hotel. For more info click here.

So if you missed the single last autumn then this might be a good choice cos its all on one CD, although it's probably going to be a bit expensive!

    News Update 2nd July
Click HERE for a review of the band's Glasters performance.

UK tour coming up in September, followed by a US tour in October. Dates are soon to be announced.

According to "rumours": The next single should be My Weakness Is None Of Your Business. More details below.

Both US and Japanese releases of the album apparently contain the new version of Blind, which will also appear in Britain in one way or another, sooner or later.

Solo tab for The Good Will Out added.

    News Update 24th June
Embrace's Glastonbury performance this weekend (Fri night, headlining 2nd stage - as if you'd have forgotten!) will be broadcast live on Radio 1 and included in the TV coverage on BBC2. Parts of it will feature on Radio 1 Jo Whiley's show on Saturday.

The band is likely to be touring the UK (and maybe US too) later this summer, possibly around September. Keep your eyes here for more info!

The identity of the next single is yet to be confirmed, but it is in two formats again, one featuring two tracks off the legendary Abbey Road sessions, and the other including 2 new tracks as B-sides which are currently being recorded. (Under the new UK charts regulations, singles can have a maximum of only 3 tracks per CD to be eligible for the charts. Arse!)

    AROUND THE WORLD:

  • Japan : - The Japanese edition of the album is out now on Toshiba-EMI/Virgin/Hut with two bonus tracks: Free Ride and an unreleased version of Blind. Its at No.34 in the HMV-Japan chart. It has been advertised widely in Japan and Embrace is starting to gather a following there with many press reviews.
  • New Zealand: - Apparently the album and a few of the singles are available in NZ.
  • Australia: - The Good Will Out is so far only available on import for about $60, and the EPs $15 each. All You Good Good People IS out in Australia but without radio/chart action. The album will be released sometime but I don't know when.
  • US (and I assume Canada too): - As previously mentioned the album's out on 28th July with slightly different track listings (includes Blind.) and possibly a tour later this summer or early autumn. Higher Sights possible single.

    Updated 17th June
The Good Will Out went Gold last Monday on its first day of release. And then (quite rightly so) it went on to reach No. 1 on the UK albums chart, outselling its nearest rival 3 to 1. If for some reason any of you in Britain haven't got it yet, I suggest you go buy it!

    Updated 11th June
Yes, at long last the album's out and of course its bloody marvellous!!!

The HMV gig on the night of the album launch was splendid. They played basically all the album tracks except Now You're Nobody, plus Blind. The sound quality was superb. Just one problem was that it seemed to me that the crowd response was in general not quite up to scratch, at least compared to Oxford. This however wasn't the case when One Big Family came on when the crowd suddenly went apeshit.(one crowd-surfer was seen to fall on top of the NME cameraman who was in between the stage and the audience.) Press conferences and interviews were held I think both before and after the show, including one for MTV.

Embrace recorded a set for Jo Whileys Show on Monday, which was broadcast last night. Which I foolishly missed. So could someone please email me + tell me about it! Cheers.

    - Solo for Come Back To What You Know added.
    - New chords for I Want The World .
    - Also chords for a few other songs are being updated.

    Updated 4th June
The Good Will Out got a brilliant 9/10 in the NME. Here's the review.

Embrace was on R1 Evening Session on Tuesday night. Danny and Rich were interviewed by Steve Lamacq (spelling?) and they played the album versions of Retread, My Weakness and the title track The Good Will Out which was superb.

They played a secret gig at Portsmouth on Tuesday - here's the review. I went to see them at Oxford last night and it was AMAZING. If you were there, or any other secret gigs, email me about it! (one-line comments, the setlist, or a full-scale review.. anything will do, I'll really appreciate it.) EMAIL HERE.

Embrace will be on Ch.4 Jo Whileys Show on Wednesday next week.

Guitar tabs for All You Good Good People and Dry Kids updated, and added new guitar tabs for You've Only Got To Stop To Get Better.

Check out the new-look official Embrace site at The Raft.

Jonny's set up a new Embrace Chat Room - click here to connect!

    Updated 2nd June
Sorry for lack of updates (got exams and stuff, you know). Really briefly:

  • Embrace is on R1 evening session tonight. They should be playing some new tracks off the album. Don't miss it!

  • Come Back To What You Know made No.6 in the UK singles chart. Nice one.

  • As we all know the album's out next Monday here in the UK. Elsewhere: the US release (and I assume Canada too) is on July 28th on Geffen, and in Japan its apparently out on June 16th with two bonus tracks. (Not sure which ones though)

  • HMV Oxford Circus gig (7th)- some tickets will apparently be available on the night on a first come first serve basis. All copies of the album bought from the store that night will be signed copies!

  • Check out J's Embrace messageboard - loads of action (and some info on secret gigs!)

I've got more stuff to upload but I haven't got time - it'll be up very shortly once my exams are done!

    Updated 21st May
Rumours are that admission to the HMV gig is via wristbands only, which are available from the store only on the night. Otherwise you can win wristbands through competitions on Time Out Magazine, Guardian Guide and XFM.

(From J's site :) The band will be on Evening Session sometime during the 1st week of June, and will also be on Jo Whiley's TV show on Wednesday 10th June.
Also here's the tracklisting for the album.

I've updated guitar tabs for Blind, All You Good Good People, Higher Sights, Fireworks and added The Last Gas, You've Got To Say Yes and a very dodgy attempt at Now You're Nobody.

    Updated 13th May
Release dates update:- The new EP's out on Monday 25th May, and the album's out on Monday 8th June. Embrace will play live at the HMV in London's Oxford Street the night before (Sunday 7th June.) Get your advance tickets from the store itself. (From the official Embrace newsletter - if you're not on the mailing list then it's on J's website - here's the link.)

    Updated 28th April

I've updated some tabs for a few songs.

    Updated 20th April
Finally got round to a bit of updating. Lyrics and guitar tabs for Come Back To What You Know added, and also some lyrics for the other new tracks.

    Updated 19th April
Tune into Radio 1 tomorrow (Monday) lunchtime to hear the first airplay of the new single on Jo Whiley's show.
    New summer gig dates announced.

    Updated 3rd April
I've added a link to a new Embrace site.
Expect album release on June 8th.

    Updated 31st March

Embrace is confirmed to play Glastonbury. Tickets went on sale yesterday - don't miss it!

I've added a fanzine info page in case you want to order one.
Also updated the fave tracks charts and again the lyrics for Retread and Blind.

    Updated 27th March
Details on the next single!! It's going to be Come Back To What You Know, not Higher Sights as originally planned, as the band is so pleased with how it turned out. The release date has been set for May 18th. For more stuff about the new single, including track listings, click here!! Also includes good news for fans in America..

    Updated 26th March

DON'T ORDER THE JAPANESE RELEASE!! The recent ads which have appeared in the music press as well as some online CD stores about the Japanese import of the album, claiming that it'll be out in early April, is not true. So you're warned NOT to buy / order it under any circumstances!

Ever wondered what equipment the band uses to produce those fantastic sounds both on stage and in the studio? Here's a complete list of all the gear which Rich and Steve use!!!!

For a track listing for the new album click here!!

    - Lyrics for Blind and Retread updated.
    - Tabs for One Big Family updated.

    Updated 19th March

I've added a new "Favourite Tracks" charts according to the entries on the guestbook. This will be updated from time to time.

Rumours are that the Japanese release of the album is going to be out in early April - but I'm not sure. I doubt that the album release is going to be that early at least over here in the UK, because from what I've heard it is going to be after the next single, news of which has not yet been officially announced.

Like last year, the organisers of Glastonbury are not going to announce the official line up before the festival but Embrace is expected to headline Stage 2 on friday night.

    - Tabs for One Big family updated.

    Updated 3rd March
Tabs for That's All changed for ever added.

    Updated 2nd March

    ALBUM INFO PAGE added!!

    - Lyrics to Last Gas added.
    - Lyrics to most tracks updated!!

    Loads of NEWS / RUMOURS.....

  • The band are currently mixing the album in London. It's not certain that Higher Sights will be the next single. The album will be called The Good Will Out.

  • They have been offered the headline slot (over Underworld!) at Glastonbury (Stage 2) on Friday night but haven't yet accepted. The band will not be playing any other UK festivals this summer.

  • The Royal Albert Hall (London) is held for the band's next UK show on May 29th - but the date may not hold.

  • The band are planning a major outdoor show in Halifax (!!!!!????) in July.

  • MTV will broadcast the "Abbey Road Session" in the same week as the album is released.

Congratulations to Embrace for winning the award for the "Best New Band" catagory at the NME/Miller Geniune Draft ("Brat") awards!! The presentation took place at London's Brixton Academy last night, which will be televised on Channel 4 late Saturday night.

Danny was interviewed subsequently on Radio 1, where he admitted that the band hasn't finished recording the album, and therefore no release date had been set yet.

Apparently source close to the band said that the album's coming out Feb 20something. I know - its confusing!!

The band recieved nominations in several catagories for the NME/Miller Draft "Brat" awards. For more info check out the NME pages.

The secret gig, which was due to take place at the Camden Falcon earlier this month (9th) was cancelled because of "recording commitments".

Embrace's new single "All You Good Good People EP" came out last Monday (27th Oct), and reached No. 8 in the official UK singles charts !!! Its their highest so far, but still not as high up as I expected... People in this country have bought more copies of "Barbie Girl" than AYGGP....doesn't it scare you a bit?

    Updated 6 Nov
The next single after AYGGP, "Higher Sights", should be with us by February. Whether this is going to be before or after the album release I do not know.

Embrace recorded live in London's Abbey Road Studios on Sunday 19th Oct, in front of an audience of Radio 1 ticket winners. They played 6 songs:
    That's All Changed for Ever
My Weakness (Is None Of Your Business)
    Higher Sights
    All You Good Good People
    You've Gotta Say Yes
    Retread
All these songs except the last two were recorded with a 40-piece orchestra. Recordings were made for both radio and television. The plan is to broadcast the video recordings on telly, possibly to coincide with the release of the band's new album early next year.
In an interview to the Melody Maker, Danny revealed that Richard's girlfriend has been shooting video clips behind the scenes, which can possibly be made into a short documentary film sort of thing.

(sorry about earlier mistake - Gene and Scarfo played in the Zodiac Club.) They played most of the previously released favourites as well as "Higher Sights" and "Retread". The crowd also sung Happy Birthday to Rich who's turning 25 this week.

In the interview Danny revealed that the next single (after AYGGP) will be"Higher Sights"
