Hello all, been a while since the last update, but I have something cool to tell ya that makes it all worth the wait. The Ugly (fronted by our own Greg Dick) will be playing a headlining gig in T.O. this September! This will be the first gig since the Last Pogo anniversary show in Dec. of 2007. The Ugly in 2008 are:
Screamin' Sam Ferrara (The Ugly / Viletones) on bass
Greg Dick (Dream Dates / Texas Dirt Fuckers) on vox
Steve Koch (Demics / Viletones) on guitar
Tony Torture (The Ugly) on drums
The band wanted to play on a 13th, and during a full moon, so the gig is set to go down on September 13th, 2008 at the Dakota Tavern (located at Ossington & Dundas).
Support for the show will come from 70s punks Tyranna and the Mods!
This will be like going back in time 30 years!
As well, the Sunday before the gig, which would be Sept. 7, the band will appear on CIUT to do an interview and a live in-studio set.... more info to come as this gets confirmed.
Plus, there are some cool photos floating around the 'ol inter-tubes of Greg fronting The Ugly at the Last Pogo anniversary show at the Horseshoe in Dec. Check out Fast Eddie's site here.

So by request, you can now look forward to a couple more interviews with legendary Toronto area punk bands from "back in the day", hosted by our own Dikky Fix (AKA the Brian Linehan of Toronto punk). After the November interview with The Mods, Greg will be delving into the scenes past with the Diodes (Feb. '07) and then Zro4 (early '07). When dates are confirmed, they will be posted here.

DEE DEE RAMONE
Sept. 18 1952 - Jun. 5 2002
The remaining members of the Texas Dirt Fuckers would like to express their remorse over the passing of punk rock legend Dee Dee Ramone. The TDF were honoured to have played with him in September of '98, and grateful that that this magical occasion was captured on video and audio. It should also be noted that the late Billy Rogers, drummer for the TDF, aside from playing on the Ramones 1983 "Subterranean Jungle" LP, also played on Dee Dee's last release, 2000s "Hop Around", which was recorded in Toronto. Dee Dee, you will be missed.

If you want to know what is going on with former TDF guitarist Mr. (Flash) Bastard, then check out the April 2002 issue of "Q", a glossy British music industry magazine, for an interview. He talks about his current projects as well as the TDF.

BILLY ROGERS
Feb. 28 1957 - Aug. 7 2001
Some very sad news, for the band, fans, friends and family of Billy, and the punk music community. TDF drummer Billy Rogers, passed away from complications due to pneumonia, at his home in Toronto, on Tuesday August 7th, 2001. The funeral service was held in downtown Toronto on Friday August 10th. The turn out was incredible, as every notable musician from the downtown music scene was in attendance. People came from as far away as Florida and Vancouver. On his coffin laid his black leather jacket, which he was never without. The service began and ended with studio tracks he recorded with Dee Dee Ramone. Eulogies were given by; Cynthia Ross, wife to Billy (with whom he had two children, Dylan and Amanda), and a founding member of the Toronto punk scene, as a member of the B Girls, and also from Toronto musical mainstay, John McCloud. On Sunday August 19th, Greg Dick and Cynthia Ross gave a tribute to Billy on CIUT 89.5 FM. They were interviewed by "Equalize & Distort's" Simon Harvey. They played a few tracks from Billy's career, including "Endless Party" by Johnny Thunders, the TDF classic, "Stay", and ended with "Time Has Come Today" from the "Subterranean Jungle" LP, the only Ramones album Billy played on. The interview was an informative tribute to the life and music of Billy... Long live Billy Rogers.

Well, the band is over, and no recordings of The Texas Dirt Fuckers are available for public consumption. But BIG NEWS!... Mr. Dick has been pursued by "Ugly Pop" records, after an executive put 2 & 2 together, and realised that he was the vocalist of 1979 Hamilton Punk Legends "The Dream Dates". After extensive research, the original master studio recordings have been unearthed from a basement in Hamilton. They have been re-mastered by the original producer, Richard Kill. The first of 2 singles will be released in late 2000. It will be pressed on 7" vinyl, with a full fold out picture sleeve, including liner notes by "Mickey De Sadist" of "The Forgotten Rebels". Don't snooze! These will be a limited edition. A "Dream Dates" web sight is currently under construction, including a vast array of photos, and a band history, with input from all the original members. The web site URL and email address will be included on the single. Look for a record release party, to happen in Toronto.
