These are the people whom I think are neutral or are connected to both sides (actually Kamui & Fuuma) very closely:
Shirou/Magami Families:
Monou Family:
Tokiko Magami |
She is Kamui's only relative left after his mother's death. She is the younger sister of Tooru. The last time when she saw her sister, she was still in middle school, before her sister disappeared from the Magami family. She was about to talk about the family of Magami to Kamui and Sorata while suddenly their attention was attracted to the kekkai formed near the Togakushi Shrine. They left Tokiko's house. Later on, Tokiko was captured by a group of men in suits. And according to Karen Kasumi, Tokiko used the spell of kotodama to order her to tell Kamui to "guard the Holy Sword", and commanded her to burn down her house. At the end of volume six, Tokiko appeared again, showing Kamui the birth of the second Holy Sword. Like Saya, she was also torn to pieces and died. |
Tooru Shirou |
Tooru is Kamui Shirou's mother, Tokiko's sister. She was the close friend of Saya Monou, Fuuma and Kotori's mother. Six years ago, she and Kamui left the city of Tokyo after the death of Saya. Tooru had always said that Saya died because of them (incident described under Saya's paragraph). Two weeks before Kamui returned to Tokyo, Tooru killed herself in a fire. Before she died, she said to Kamui, "Go back to Tokyo, your future is waiting for you there." The maiden name of Tooru Shirou was Magami. Ma can mean truth while gami can mean god. Those of the Magami family are "kage-nie" (shadow + offering). By becoming the "shadow" of some person, they become an "offering", receiving all of his misfortune in place of the person. |
Kotori Monou |
![]() |
Kyougo Monou |
Kyougo Monou is the father of Fuuma and Kotori Monou. He is the master of Togakushi Shrine. There was a tragedy which happened 6 years ago in the family in which he lost his wife, Saya. She was killed. As Kamui's mother Tooru said that she should be responsible for Saya's death, they left Tokyo the next day after Saya's death. Kyougo was shocked when he saw Kamui's return, 6 years after his wife's death. In the manga, He was killed by Nataku on the same day he saw Kamui because Nataku came to snatch the Holy Sword which Kyougo had spent 6 years protecting. But in the anime, Kyougo has died one year ago. "Kyou" means "mirror" while "go" means "protect." |
Saya Monou |
She is Fuuma and Kotori's mother, a close friend of Tooru Shirou... so close that she even died in her place. In fact, Tooru is the only person special to her, and that is why she "married into Togakushi Shrine". Six years ago, Saya took the place of Tooru and "gave birth" to the first Holy Sword. By "giving birth", she had to get torn to pieces and die. This may be considered as the tragedy of the Monou family, but in a way, Saya let Tooru lived so that she could take care of young Kamui. The word Saya, when translated to another kanji of the same pronunciation can mean sheath. In this sense, it can be the sheath of the Holy Sword. |
