What's BAA-ACS? Outstanding Community [b. 12/05/99] |
HistoryIn 1984, Asian-American students at the UC Davis Campus formed the Asian-American Cultural Society [AACS]. Their main goal was to assemble together at social events to help students from UC Davis and other nearby colleges with their careers. This tradition of building common boundaries and relationships continues throughout the organization of the Bay Area Asian American Cultural Society at the College of San Mateo in the Fall of 1991. Our primary goal is to provide a forum where students from the Bay Area can unite together and expand their horizons through the experience of one another. With the participation of many community leaders, professionals, business people, faculty members, community organizations, and students, a huge banquet called the "Meeting of the Minds" was put together. This association of people provides a huge network of knowledge that the students utilize to gain an edge. With the successful turnouts of "Meeting of the Minds" dinners, we will continue this tradition annually with your support. We would like to extend our most gracious appreciation to AACS and welcome their support. San Francisco Chapter's Welcome AddressThe Bay Area Asian-American Cultural Society would like to welcome everyone to our seventh annual "Meeting of the Minds" banquet. Our goal is to bring awareness, so that we can voice our opinions and hope that our efforts will succeed. Social activities like tonight's dinner is one means of bringing together our Bay Area community with anticipation of achieving this goal We would like to thank everyone here tonight for your success. Yes, your success, because with your continuing support over the years, we are proud to announce the addition of a new high school scholarship program to our annual college scholarship fund. On behalf of the Bay Area Asian-American Cultural Society, we would like to congratulate all the community leaders, faculty members, community organizations and students for your support and contributions. We would also like to welcome the enthusiastic participation of the Sam Mateo Chapter and the Bay Area Asian American Political Association. To our teacher and good friend, Mr. Joe Chung Fong, we would like to congratulate you once again for another successful event. We finally understand why choosing the path of most resistance is the only way to break tradition and create something new. Executive Co-ChairDandy Wong*** Kitty Lau ***--Noted HAA-AS member!
