He is the illegitimate son of Kate Roberts and Bill Horton, and his parents' affair is the reason that Laura Spencer Horton was confined to a sanitarium for nearly 20 years. His mother told him that his father was a graduate of West Point, the same academy that Lucas himself had been attending before he came to Salem. This proved to be untrue, and Lucas discovered he was actually a Horton. While he was helping Carrie through the mess that resulted after the "Face of the Nineties" fiasco, he fell in love with her. She didn't return the sentiment even though she dated him for awhile. Still, he wanted her and teamed up with Sami to get her at all costs.
Lucas never has and feels he never will measure up to his half-brothers, Mike Horton and Austin Reed (but he's gaining on Duh-Boy). He wants Carrie, but unfortunately his mother prefers that her long-lost son Duh-Boy be Carrie's mate, rather than Lucas. It would be easier for Lucas if his mother was helping him along. He's also unsure of how to handle his relationship with the Hortons. Laura Spencer Horton actively resents him, and Mike and Jennifer harbor some resentment towards his mother. Lucas found out that he was Will's father last August, but Sami's been actively discouraging him from participating in Will's upbringing, preferring Duh-Boy over him as a father figure for her son. Recently he has been turning to drink to provide consolation. He is in danger of losing his parental rights where Will is concerned, and not all of Alice Horton's doughnuts can help her newest grandchild out of this mess.

In the past, definitely no. But Lucas has been showing some signs of maturity lately. He's been trusting in and confiding in his grandmother, and as everyone knows, Alice Horton has the answers to all of Salem's burning questions. The conflict with Duh-Boy has been of primary importance this year, and therefore, I believe he's let go of his Carrie obsession and is moving towards helping Mike get Carrie, if only to spite Duh-Boy. Go Lucas! |
I like Bryan Datillo, and I really like Lucas. Finally, a Salemite who's not an idiot! I can empathize with his plight, and I really like the fact that he's turned to Alice for help. I think Maggie could be an incredible ally as well. all Lucas needs to do is reach out for help. It's too bad he didn't nab Mickey as his counselor, but then again, Sami's a quick little schemer and she knows that Mickey never loses a case. I hope Lucas can find strength in the coming months, and grow into a mature man, capable of standing up to Sami Brady. |
