Characters of note:
Before getting into the characters, I'd like to give
a big thank you to Fredd Gorham for the sketches of Mindwave and the Empress
on the following pages. If you'd like to see some of Fredd's other
work, you can visit his home page at http://come.to/utopianhomepresence
Feature characters:
-
The Empress: Ruler of
the Imperial Legion of Stars. Extremely powerful and extremely matriarchal
in her approach to ruling the Empire. Doesn't trust males to handle
the governing of her Empire. The Empress stands over 8 feet tall
and is incredibly strong, able to lift over 25 million tons. Her
body transforms to a durable, bronze-like metal at will, and she has displayed
a number of other powers, including a ranged attack and very fast regeneration.
-
Mindwave: Leader
of the superhero team and a "warlord in training." Formerly a member
of the IST, she has since joined the Empire and is assisting with the expansion
of Imperial space. She possesses considerable mental abilities and
the attitude necessary to succeed in the Empire. Currently she is
in control of an Imperial frigate named the Star Fist and is conducting
an exploratory survey of the space near the Morgoth border.
-
Dr. Bruno Von Otto: Also a member of
the original team that found the Empress' crashed corvette outside of Denver,
Dr. Von Otto is somewhat of an eccentric gadgeteer. Though not himself
a metahuman, he carries a device, known simply as the Widgit, which allows
him to do several things that put him on par with many metahumans.
Dr. Von Otto handles many of the scientific aspects of the missions.
-
The Enchantress: Right hand to the Empress,
and warlord of the region of space that Earth is in. Extremely beautiful
as far as most humanoids are concerned, and can use her beauty and her
mental powers to affect the decisions of others. She is also a capable
leader and a brilliant tactician.
-
Dr. Jason Thorne: A zoologist with the
ability to summon nearly any land-based animal that he is aware of.
Dr. Thorne also possesses some mind control powers. Having lost the
use of his legs from injuries suffered in a gun fight, Dr. Thorne has spent
the last couple of years in a wheelchair, but Imperial medical technology
allows him to walk again with cybernetic legs.
-
Samantha: The group's martial artist,
Samantha is trained in the art of Aikido. She tends to be a bit absent-minded
sometimes, and is possessed of the same curiosity that killed the cat.
She manages to find her way into trouble nearly everywhere she goes, but
in a fight, she's a very valuable asset to the team.
-
Lt. Jamie Moreau: A soldier that the
team met on one of the planets that's inside Morgoth territory. Lt.
Moreau was a freedom fighter on his home planet, and has several implants
that assist in combat, including cybernetic eyes that offer telescopic
vision, cyber armor on most of his body, and he carries a blaster pistol
as a side arm. Lt. Moreau is also an accomplished martial artist.
Crew of the Star Fist:
-
Captain Tarna: Commanding officer of
the Star Fist, he's one of the few males that rise to the upper ranks.
Cool under pressure and a very able and experienced commander, Captain
Tarna has taken his ship into battle against the Morgoths on many occasions
and emerged victorious.
-
Commander Brenna: First officer of the
Star Fist, she is very cold and stern. She has no sense of humor
at all, and often alienates the people around her. While not the
friendliest soul on the Star Fist, nobody questions her ability to get
a job done, and while most of the crew members won't admit it openly, they
have the utmost confidence in her ability to command the ship if necessary.
-
Lt. Kaar: Chief Science officer on the
Star Fist. She is smart but doesn't grasp tactics very well.
She's more interested in astrophysics than in combat anyway. Her
only experience in combat is the training she received at the Imperial
Academy, which was rudimentary at best. She knows her way around
the sensor arrays, though, and has assisted Dr. Bruno Von Otto quite a
bit already.
-
Lt. Kirana: Chief Sensor Operator.
He is an accomplished scientist in his own right. Lt. Kirana is also
familiar with a variety of Imperial ground vehicles, and is often included
on any away teams, both for his ability to pilot ground vehicles and his
knowledge of sensor equipment.
-
Ens. T'ja: Helmsman on the Star Fist.
She aspires to be a warlord some day, and looks up to any female in a position
of authority, particularly Commander Brenna and Mindwave. She is
the youngest member of the bridge crew, having been transfered to the Star
Fist right out of the naval academy, but her skill at the helm is undeniable.
She tends to be a bit timid at times, but knows a great deal about both
Imperial and Morgoth tactics, and has seen a few fights in her short time
aboard the Star Fist.
-
Ens. Par'Tagh: Ens. Par'Tagh is the
chief communications officer of the ship. He is the most alien (from
a human point of view) of all of the bridge crew, and would be considered
by most humans as quite unattractive. His race is particularly adept
with language structure analysis, and he is also a wiz on a computer, which
makes him ideal for defining (and occasionally breaking) custom encryption
patterns for transmissions.
