Mischief's Playground

This summer I had the greatest opportunity to go to Anime Expo 2000! *yeahhh!* Talk about an otaku convention! I went along with two other people, representing the former Masquerading Institute of Alternate Reflections (MIAR). I had spend months researching, studying, and preparing for this convention. To show my parents that it just wasn't some unplanned spur of the moment trip, I planned out the whole event, showing them what I would do and the like. I was bugging them forever, but alas! They let me go! It was like a dream come true!

The convention was held at the Disneyland Convention Center in Anaheim, California from June 30th to July 3rd. We traveled by car, with the other two members taking turns driving. I had made reservations for us to stay at the West Coast Anaheim Hotel, arriving a day early and leaving a day later. We left Fallon at about 2am in the morning, almost an two hours behind schedule. But since we gave extra time in our planning, we arrived on time. The drive was about 9 hours long, including breaks and food stops.

Mischief half awake on the ride upWhen we arrived in Anaheim, I was delirious with joy. The whole week was a blast, I cosplayed every day, met tons of people, saw new movies and made a whole bunch of new friends! I even got my picture taken several times! Despite some issues regarding one of the members, I had an absolute blast at AX2000. I even got to meet the guests of honor and get pictures with them/of them! I never would have believed I'd get to meet Ms. Rika Fukanami, the voice actor for Sailor Venus. Or even Ikuhara-sama! The creator of Revolutionary Girl Utena, and other famous anime. I was in total awe the whole time. Many of my online friends became my "real" friends at Anime Expo. Ohhh...I'm just psyched right now just remembering the whole chain of events. True, I didn't get much sleep, I waited in long lines..and I was absolutely ravishing when I got home, but it was all worth it. I just can't wait until next year! It's gonna even be bigger and better then!
