Well, another year that comes to an end...

Strange to think that in less than 2 months, it will be the second year anniversary of my first fanfic. Time flies so fast.

What are my plans for 2001? First I intend to work on a project that only a few select people know about. There are still many uncertainties about it, so I don't want to say more. The only thing I can say is that it probably won't be for everyone to read. Next, after a short hiatus, I intend on working on T3B chapter 8 and finish that story (either with that chapter or subsequent chapters if needed). Once that's done, I'll either work on a darkfic called "The masks we all wear" or my "Discoveries" lemon project. After all that? I have no specific plans.

In any case, 2000 has been quite an interesting years. It saw the end if TOILI and most of T3B got written in that year. We also ran the first Tako Balls awards edition and SEELE reviews have been added. A few interesting fics appeared such as Strike Fiss "Higher Learning" and Holding Hands", Mekat's "Pariah" and Hotwire's, aka T.L. Webb, "Together we Stand" saga (all released on the EFML and now being slowly released on the web).

Hopefully, 2001 will be as interesting.

Well, since a lot of people around (in real life I mean) are putting their Christmas decorations, I guess I might as well do the same ^_^

Also, I know that I probably had some of you waiting for a long time and I can't help thinking it wouldn't be fair to make it any longer. So here's T3B Chapter 6 pre-reader draft. It's still a bit flawed, there is probably still a good number of grammar errors and the chat between Hikari and Kensuke needs to be reworked and expanded a bit, but all important elements are there and it's quite readable. I'm not making Chapter 7 available however, as I have more elements on that one that needs to be reworked.

Interesting news for the manga fans. Volume 6 will be available in Japan on December 15th and will, among other things, introduce the 4th Children and the Unit-03 Angel (can't call it the 13th Angel, as a few of them have been removed from the manga continuity). I wonder how manga Shinji will react. Hopefully, I'll know in the third quarter of 2001. Unfortunately, most those who depend on Viz will have to wait to at least 2002. Of course, those who can read Japanese and will buy the imports will be the luckiest ^_^

Decided that T3B Chapter 5 was ready for distribution. With what I wrote in chapter 6 and 7, I can no longer go back on some issues I created (mainly concerning Asuka) for better or worse. And besides, with the Chicken Balls awards no doubt drawing near, the extra publicity won't hurt ^_^

No progress on T3B since the last time. C&C from my pre-readers is slower than usual, due to most of them being busy (exams, school or personal life), so it's more or less on standbye...

If some of you are actually interested, I've just refreshed a bit the About the author... section. Should look a tiny bit nicer. On the T3B scene, the first draft is now withing my pre-readers hands. Already, numerous changes are to be expected. May take a bit more time than I thought...

T3B is still progressing. Chapter 6 is up to page 24, although I still have five scenes left (it appears that each time I write a scene, a new one needs to be written... I must have written 6 scenes lately and always stay stuck at five scenes left... must be a curse of sort).

Also, I guess I better warn you all now, I will be taking a break after Chapter 6. Otherwise, I may never get to finish T3B. Writing right now doesn't flow as well and is almost a struggle. While the result is still good, I feel I need to get away from it for a while, then read the whole thing from the beginning to go back to the story original roots, if possible. Fear not, I WILL finish T3B, but I may not start on Chapter 7 (hopefully the last) before next January. Besides, I've got tons of anime to watch and a few RPG to play, so I don't think there will be much time for fanfic writing anyway...

Tokyo-3 Baby-sitters Chapter 6 is now 20 pages long, with still 5 scenes to write. That's 2 more pages then Chapter 3, which was the longest chapter with a bonus scene and long author's notes. Also, I wrote what I considered to be the trickiest scene and I'm actually satisfied with the result.

Just in case some are wondering, the fics held into the "Stories from my pre-readers" and "NGE stories I Like" sections were moved to a single section, "NGE stories archive", with the exceptions of two stories from two of my pre-readers, "Double or trouble" (Ranma 1/2 fanfic) and "I'll be" (Nadesico fic), which are now held into the "Non-NGE stories" section. At this time, I don't know if this section will be expended to fics not written by pre-readers and if it does, how many stories it will hold.

And yes, I am still working on T3B, but very, very, very slowly... I'm just not the right mood to work on it right now...

Oh, also, since I had a few request for one, I built a mini "Past pics of the week" archive, were I'll store past pics of the week. Now, since I have some size restrictions, only the past 24 pictures will be on the archive. But considering it almost covers half a year, I'd say it's quite sufficient. I've just received authorization from Mekat to host his excellent short series, Pariah. I simply found this story... excellent. A little gem of fanfiction. And the art... oh the art! I just had to give it a special place in my archive. If there were such a thing, this story would get the 'Rakna Seal of Approval' (no, it doesn't exist, so don't submit fics in hope that you'd get such an award).

If some of you were wondering, yes, I'm still alive. I just couldn't update the pic of the week this weekend because I had DVD problems and therefore took the opportunity to upgrade my computers to Windows ME. Error or not, only the future will tell (at least, I didn't spend hours downloading updates... sigh, wish I had cable modem).

I know that I'm repeating myself, but T3B chapter 6 is progressing. In fact, the current copy is the same size as the previous chapters. And as chapters before, plans changes as I write it, so I still have eight scenes to write, and a few hard ones. I'm aiming toward the end of October, but I won't make promises.

For those who waited patiently, good news! The final draft of Tokyo-3 Baby-sitters is finally up! And for those who are waiting for Chapter 6, there is at most only 6 scenes left to write (however, contrarily to what I may have said earlier, Chapter 6 won't be the last chapter...). I'm back in writing mood and hopefully it'll last long enough for me to wrap that chapter up ^_^

For the (few of you) who are wondering and waiting, after a near one month hiatus, I've FINALLY written the first 4 scenes of Tokyo-3 Baby-sitters Chapter 6. Now, I can't promise that the rest will flow smoothly from there, but now, all my ideas are pretty much set and ready to write.

Well, no progress so far with T3B. Although it's getting clearer in my mind, as I pretty now much know how I plan to use elements like Gendo, Kaji and perhaps even the 15th Angel. I still have trouble with how to handle Asuka and Hikari. Well, it'll all work out eventually. It always does ^_^

One thing that might help is, as you'll see in the second pic of the week, I've bought the French edition of the 5th manga (I pity those having to wait for the English edition... with Viz, it probably won't be available until at least 6 months). It's just... great! Very different from the series (Rei talks a lot in it) but also very interesting. Wished it had been done sooner... I might have based TOILI a lot more on the manga than the series.

Well, in any case, not much on my side. Planning of T3B chapter 6 is still going slowly, although, I've had lately some dialogue that popped into my mind about a few key scenes. I would not be surprised if I ended up writing a scene or two somewhere in the next week.

There's also been additions on the small fanfic archive. A post EoE story called "Wake" as well as a lemon side story which is located in the Lemon section.

Oh, and for those who noticed the Pics of the week... call it "Mana week" ^_^

I'm back! Well, not quite, but almost.

For those who wonder where I was, here's the story. Saturday the 15th, one of my cousins was getting married. In Montreal. Now, for those who don't know, I live in some small town up in northeastern Quebec… approximately 900 Km from Montreal. It's quite a long ride (if all goes well and you take an hour to rest/eat, it can be done in nine hours by car - don't even think about planes, too expensive where I live). Since I was due for vacations anyway, no problems, I went. Left on June 13th and was back on June 19th. That gave me the opportunity to visit the family there, do some sightseeing and some shopping (which included DVDs, CDs, and some anime merchandise (which included the S2 Works NGE CD collection at an almost ridiculous price). The shopping also included a new 30 Gb hard drive as well as a Matrox Marvel G400-TV video card for Gally, my computer. So I spent the following days rebuilding my entire system (since I was upgrading the hard drive, it was the perfect opportunity to reinstall Windows 98 and all my applications - the whole thing runs much smoother now - the last installation dated of August 99). So, Friday night, all was up and running. But I decided to take things slow. Still keep away a bit from anime. Which I did. I've only read one fanfic in the last 2 weeks and only wrote 6 lines in the T3B Chapter 5 rewrite. But don't worries, things will slowly get back to what they were.

In any case, I had a very nice vacation and a lot of fun! ^_^

It took some time, but finally, Tokyo-3 Baby-sitters chapter 3 is now completely done and ready to release. Yay! And for those who read the pre-reader draft and think there's not need to look at it, think again. At the end, a special bonus scene was added (it's easy to find, it's marked 'bonus scene'). While it doesn't have an impact on the whole story, I think it's an interesting read. I've also added toward the end of the chapter the lyrics of Rei's lullaby, for those interested.

Well, it took a while, but the final draft of Tokyo-3 Baby-sitters is finally out. No change in the story, but plenty of grammar corrections.

On an other note, as of now, I am no longer pre-reading stories sent to me via mail (with the exception of the people composing my pre-reader group. For some reason, a lot of you seem to think that I give good C&C (which might be true, but it's I won't be the one judging that). If you really want me to look at your drafts, you'll have to join the Evangelion fanfiction Mailing List and post there. For those who knows the FFML, or Fanfiction Mailing List, it's the same thing, except that the EFML focus on NGE fanfics only. The mailing list member list is still small, but aside from me, there are other great authors who joined it, such as Toh Ee-Loong ("HERZ") and Lara Bartram ("Pages", "Role-playing", etc. - it is to be noted that Miss Bartram was the one who created the list). The EFML is a place to give and get C&C, read the latest NGE fanfic drafts, exchange ideas, etc. And you can join even if you're not a writer; a good number of people have joined and are simply enjoying the posts.

Well, for those who wondered, no I'm not dead... There simply wasn't much news to give.

But... despite watching Lodoss War TV and the NGE DVD (can't wait for the second in 2001 - with ADV, it will surely take that long...) I've at least wrote so far 6 pages on the fourth T3B chapter. But there's still much work to do, and it's delicate work, with all the drama I want to deal with. But I'm having fun...

A few of you might be happy to know that the 3rd T3B chapter has finally reached first level pre-reader stage. Once it gets through every one of my grammar & spelling pre-readers, it will be made available here (having learned from last chapter, I'm not sending the draft to all my pre-reader at once, to avoid having three different persons sending me the same corrections). I expect it to be done within one week and then I can make the second level pre-reader draft available.

On other matters, some of you might be interested to know that Slayers Starboard, Stefan Gagne's new series, now has both a prologue and the first scenes of Chapter 1 up on his page. Be sure to look, as the prologue, or rather Part zero, will be web only and will not be posted on the FFML (and most likely the RAAC).

And let's not forget a new Higher Learning lesson at the usual place in my archive.

On a more personal level, I finally made progress in Tokyo-3 Baby-sitters Chapter 3. I think it's coming really nicely. Can't really tell you when it will be done, but since I seem to be in the mood again, it may just be sooner then later.

Remember when I mentioned the 1999 Chicken balls Awards? Well, it's finally done and the 1999 Award Ceremony is finally available. While I had mentioned that Lost Love was in nomination for "Best Sadfic", it didn't win. I'm not that surprise, after all I wrote the whole thing in less then an hour. The fact that it was nominated was very rewarding in itself. However, TOILI, along with twenty or so other stories (including "HERZ") received the 1999 Chicken balls Most Underrated fanfic award. While Underrated is certainly not the best award one can get, at least it's good publicity. You can find the 1999 Award Ceremony here: Part 1 & Part 2.

One thing that more or less annoys me, however, is that was basically cut to the speech itself. You see, each writer could write his acceptance speech. And while I understand that mine was a tiny bit long, and even if it was rather lame, it still annoys me. What can I do about that? Well at least I can show my readers how it was originally intended: Alain's original acceptance speech

Oh, and BTW, I hardly think TOILI is underrated, with 60,000 hits in 14 months and around 200 different people who send my their C&C via mail. Thanks! You all deserve awards! ^_^

Well, I haven't given any news in a while, have I? The truth is, not much was going on, really. Well, except for some heavy anime watching. But, still, enough went on for me to put on Tokyo-3 Baby-sitters's pre-reader draft. It's practically done, just need some little bits of info. The third chapter however... feels like I've been trying to put some puzzle together for days without managing to put more then 3 or three pieces together. Sigh...

Wow! Godsend777 has been awfully productive lately. Two days ago he released "The Death of One" chapter 5.3 and now he releases Chapter 6. I'd like to write that fast...

Also, small change with Tokyo-3 Baby-sitters. Recent work showed that the story was starting to get relatively big for a one shot. So I decided instead to split it in three smaller chapters. So what some of you read as a teaser has now become T3B Chapter 1, now available.

Very good news for me. Today, I've received the Heaven's Gate Gold Seal Site award. What does it means? Well, it means that my site would be considered among the best NGE fanfic sites there is. And this without any fancy effects (that tends to crash my French IE5 too often to my liking) some other sites have. This is, without doubt, very pleasing. Guess I'll have to try to keep up what apparently is good work ^_^

Oh! What an idiot! I almost forgot to talk about the new Tokyo-3 Baby-Sitter fanart (as well as general NGE fanart) I added in the Fanart Gallery. Those are the work of Cookie Oishii.

Today, I've just finished a series of very small revisions of all TOILI chapters. So I'm officially declaring it as finished. Completely. No more revisions. It's done.

It feel weird...

I do have one or two side stories projects, but... it's just not the same.

Now, hopefully, I can finally go forward with Tokyo-3 Baby-sitter. In a way, it will be a nice change to focus on something else then TOILI.

I didn't have as much feedback from my pre-readers, regarding the grammar and spelling, as the previous parts, but I guess that this should be enough to say that the Epilogue is quite alright. So I'm releasing the final draft.

What am I currently doing, some may ask. Well, on one side, I making slight adjustments to the previous TOILI chapter, for a new repost in all other sites hosting it, as well as the RAAC. It's mainly details, and doesn't really justify reading it again. When I'm not doing that (and neither trying to finish those "Legend of Legaia" & FF8 psx games I had put aside to concentrate more on fanfiction) I'm trying to slowly build the scenario of three shorter projects: my "Tokyo-3 Baby-sitter" project (teaser available on this page), my "Discoveries" project (my personal challenge of writing a NGE lemon with a plot... only time will say if I will succeed) as well as the project I temporary labeled "Reflections" (a TOILI side story, dealing with Rei and her reactions to the events of the end of chapter 12, the epilogue, and what's waiting for her in the future). Neither of them is going on very well, however. Guess it will take some time for me to completely pull away from TOILI...

Ah, special day today. I'm not telling you why, however. People might think that I'm desperate for attention. The important thing is that I'm in a very good mood today. And it's partly thanks to you. All throughout the last year, a lot of you were kind enough to send comments and encouragements. And thanks to fanfiction, I also developed a few friendships that I value very much. Thanks! ^_^

Now onto business. From time to time, people send me work so that I would give my opinion. Seems people think that I'd have a good judgment (when I have time to read those stories). Sometime, the said work ain't really worth the read. Often, the work is average - readable, but still needs work. There are times however where I really enjoy some of the pieces sent to me. This is an example, that I've just added to my archive. It's a parody called Insanity? You bet! (by Roy Whitford), which I found quite fun to read. I hope you will too.

I'm a bit disappointed. Of course, from the start, I expected some fans to be unhappy. I mean, both girls couldn't get Shinji. However, as one of my readers once pointed out: "there's no real loser, as Rei and Asuka gained and learned so much in your story". I had hoped that most people would have reached that conclusion. Alas, there was a lot of people who simply didn't like the end, because the girl they liked wasn't chosen. There's nothing I can do about that, and, as I said to a few people, I won't be doing an alternate ending where the other one is chosen by Shinji. But, even though I get a lot of good comments, the occasional "Your ending sucked" does kinda hurt. Oh well, if that's how it is, then just do as I always say: "If you don't like it, don't read it."

On other matters entirely, lately, I've been slowly working on a picture gallery that would hold all the pics used in TOILI, before modification. That gallery is now ready. You can take a look here. (note: Xoom page, you may have to reload from time to time)

I'm currently slowly working on fixing a few details on Chapter 12 and the epilogue, as well as answering the very numerous mail I've received about those.

Addition in the pre-readers section of a new part of Ramen by EeL, as well as a CoaEG related unofficial Omake. I've also added on my opening page a link to a recently built series of mini-galleries about my favorites game & anime female characters (it's a XOOM page, so you may sometimes have to reload...)

First off, an happy Valentine's Day to all lovers. ^_^

Now, for what most of you are probably here for. So here it is, the last part of TOILI, TOILI Chapter 12, Part 4. In addition to that, you can also read Let the World Burn / One Dream at a Time as Chapter 12 side story (which will answer the question "What was the deal with Gendo?" as well as the TOILI Outtakes.

Oh, and I've also added the sixth part of Higher Learning in the "NGE Stories I like" section as well as a Nadesico story by R. Alexander Spoerer (NGE: Elsewhere) in my pre-readers section (it's the first Nadesico fanfic I've ever read and I think it was a very good start!)

I've now added the fifth part of Higher Learning in the "NGE Stories I like" section.

Also, I just learned that my story, Lost Love, is currently nominated for the Chicken Ball Best Sadfic Award (Chicken Ball Awards page here). It came as a total surprise, but it was a VERY pleasant surprise. There's only two things I can say... Wow! and thanks... ^_^

Maybe I should work on that sadfic TOILI epilogue after all... I wanted to forget the idea, but I'm yet again starting to feel the urge to do it...

Less then a week now... Expect new TOILI Chapter 12 parts on the following days: February 10th (Part 3), February 12th (Interlude 3) and February 14th (final part as well as the TOILI Outtakes). Why don't I post it all in one shot? Because I'm evil of course ^_^ You can also expect the Epilogue to be released before February 29th, in fact hopefully February 21st. It should give my pre-readers enough time to comment... hopefully.

On other matters, I've bought the French edition of the Newtype 100% Collection Neon Genesis Evangelion. It's just so great. Very neat pictures and a lot of interesting info! I even have the plans of Rei's and Misato's apartments! Once TOILI is done, I'll probably go over it to fix a few descriptions or two... (example: Shinji and Rei going to the laundromat; it seems that Rei actually has a washing machine in her room, right behind her bed).

YAY!!! I just noticed that I've reached 40000 hits with still one month to spare before the site one year anniversary... wow! I must say I'm impressed. I can hardly believe I could reach that much hits in a year. If I compare to other sites, that have been opened for far longer the mine, it's VERY good. Thank you all! When I first started TOILI, it was mainly for my own enjoyment. I'm glad that you, my readers, seem to enjoy it just as well...

Aside from small grammar corrections and such, the pre-reader draft of Chapter 11 (revised) is ready and therefore I'm putting it back on this page. For those who don't feel like reading it again, the changes are:

Kaoru's characterization has been changed.
Kaoru's relation with Shinji was changed as well. No sex and such.
The lime scene had been removed. A more interesting dream sequence scene has been added.

New additions in the NGE stories I like section. The first two chapters, or should I rather say "lessons" of Strike Fiss' (see "Shinji the Casanova") new project, "Higher Learning". I think that this series has potential and so, I'm very happy to host it. Even more interesting, the author is actually trying to release a part every week. Wish I could to that...

On local matters, only two scenes left to write for Chapter 12. These are however most likely the most complicated scenes of the entire chapter. It may just take as much time to write those two scenes then it took to write the rest of chapter 12. But that won't stop me!

First of all, I'll be happy to say that the drafting of Chapter 12 and the revisions of Chapter 11 are going much better than I could have expected. I may just get my Epilogue pre-reader draft on February 14th 2000 after all...

On other matters, I've added in the Pre-readers fanfic section new material by Toh Ee-Loong (EeL): the first episode of his Asuka McBeal project, a funny Evangelion Synopsis as well as his El-Hazard/Evangelion crossover. Now if I can just take the time to read his EVA-Files series...

As of now, I'm taking Chapter 11 offline. After many comments, suggestions, flames, etc, I had a small idea about a change I'd like to apply. I'll probably be reworking the characterization of Kaoru a bit and will be removing the lemon/lime elements. Hopefully, after those slight (but most likely significant) this chapter will be to my liking ^_^

Well, like almost everywhere, the new millenium came and nothing major happened. As a friend said, it was almost boring. Still, feels weird to think that we're now in the 21st Century... (uh? you tell me we're not in the 21st Century yet? damn! ^_^ ) it's even weirder when you've got to write the date (got to use 4 digits now). But the uneasiness will soon be forgotten, as always.

Now that I rambled a bit, here's the news. As of today, a new scene of Tokyo-3 Baby-sitter is available. This will be the last scene added online for a LONG while, as I'm now focussing on finishing TOILI. I want to release the Epilogue draft to my pre-reader on February 14th 2000, which means I have less then six weeks to write Chapter 12 and the Epilogue. That's not a lot of time, especially, if one considers that Chapter 12 may be difficult the write and that I only have a vague idea of the kind of Epilogue I want. It will be much of a challenge. Why do I care so much about the February 14th date? Well, the Prologue was written (and finished) on February 14th 1999. It would be kind of neat to finish the story exactly one year after I started it. Also, it would be nice if the draft could be put on my webpage for my birthday (which would follow a few days later).

But back to T3B. Before anyone worries, I assure you, I WILL finish that story. You may however not see more scenes before I'm done with it. I tried to work in a linear way (from the beginning to the end) but found it quite difficult. You see, when I write, I like to jump from a scene to another. Sometimes, I can write the end of a chapter even before writing the beginning...

Finally, I'd like to thank Ka-Wing Tam, who helped me with this new T3B scene. She managed to describe what I could not and gave us a nice portrayal of chibi-Shinji (and also give a direction with a scene that wasn't going anywhere). Thank you, Ka-Wing-chan ^_^
