I did have a "cold" pit pass (along with another 50,000 people). It
gave you access to pit road well before the cars (or drivers)were around. Here are views of the
Rainbow Warriors and Goodwrench Service pit stalls. Really was not much going on here so I
marched on.
This is a "long shot"
photo of Richard Childress talking to Bill France prior to the race ( a look at the NASCAR
"scrapbook" website will actually show some blurry images of me in the background). That is to the bottom left. On the right is Ken Webber from ESPN. C'mon....try looking harder!!!!!

At this point I'd snuck into an area that was right off the garages and team trailers. At the right is Sterling Marlin and his wife arriving to the track. On the left was Benny Parsons, ESPN commentator. He was quite personable!! Although many people tried to get into the area it was quite restricted.
Here was as close as
I got to the teams. I might have made it through (in fact I did), however, if you're going to try and
sneak into the garage area YOU MUST WEAR LONG PANTS, NO SANDALS, and NO
SLEAVELESS
SHIRTS!!!!!!!

As time went on (and just about the
time security got real tight), they rolled out a few cars. Here are Bobby Hamilton's and Kenny
Wallace's cars on the way to th egas pumps.
At last I'm in my seat ready to go. This was the best picture I could get of drivers
introductions. That was Dale Earnhardt and Mike Skinner passing by the stands.
