His wisdom and thoughtfulness make him slow to act, unlike some of his younger more impulsive counterparts, but when needed he is always ready for a fight.
We never got to meet his lifemate Rillfisher, she died long before we got to know the Wolfriders. He had one cub with her, his little kitling Dewshine, she is his pride and joy.
Treestump is true to his namesake in that he is stout, hearty and hard to break. He is the oldest of the Wolfriders and after Bearclaw and Joyleaf's death he took on the role of father to Cutter. Cutter trusts him to be his voice in council when he is unable to be there.
Dewshine, is a joy to all that know her. Still very young by elf standards she has lived a lifetime of hardships and all the while managed to keep her sweet and loving disposition. She recognized Tyldak and bore a child, Windkin, by him. But he did not love her, and her love was for Scouter alone. So unlike most elves who become lifemates with the one they recognize, Dewshine and Tyldak took care of the necessities of recognition and parted soon after.
"Dewshine...a name that conjures the shimmer of dawn or the gleam of full moonlight."
"What is the way?" by Wendy and Richard Pini

Losing his father, One-Eye, at a young age was difficult for him. But his mother, Clearbrook, took it far worse and so true to form he put aside his own grieving to be strong for her.
No elf could ask for a better father, lifemate, or son.
If there is was such a thing as a Boyscout amongst the Wolfriders it would be Scouter. Trustworthy, loyal and honest are the 'Scouter way'. His hawk like eyesight has served the Wolfriders well on many occasions.
