It's quite literally crunch time as the LEXX crew try to halt Mantrid's scheme to convert the universe to pieces of himself, even if it means their deaths.
An exciting and action-packed season ender, with some great ideas, End of the Universe has all the best elements of LEXX: drama, humour and some stunning visuals.
This is the confrontation we've been waiting for, although it might have been nice to see Mantrid cropping up a little earlier to make his presence felt. 790's newfound mobility makes for some fun scenes as he attempts to fondle Xev, but also opens up the chance for a whole host of 790 drones to beat back Mantrid's in an inspired piece of plotting. Watching the robot's drones pummelling their way through the opposition screaming "We fight for Xev!" is wonderful to watch. In fact, the CGI effects really come into their own, rendering various shapes and forms out of arms, millions of which are expertly realized. The final sequence of Mantrid's drones advancing on the LEXX and then the end of the universe is really impressive.
On top of this, the crew really work together. Stan shows soe bravery at last, 790 finally gets into the action, Kai gets to show off some of his skills, and Lyekka makes a final stand in a rather touching scene after her pod has been destroyed. Everything combines to make this a really strong season ender, with the promise of plenty more adventures to come. I can't wait.
