Stan's past finally comes back to haunt him as he is charged with causing the deaths of billions of inhabitants of the 100 reform planets, which His Shadow destroyed. And his guilt could lead to a slow and painful death.
There were hints about Stan's past in the TV movies, but now we hear the whole story. As a futuristic courtroom piece, this is a well-written, if a little slow episode, with some good characters. It's nice to see the LEXX crew finally meet up with someone who's actually quite nice, even if His Shadow's ship comes along and wipes him out at the end of the episode.
Prosecutor Jihana is well played to maximum evil effect, with her love of death and cruelty making her a typical LEXX character. It's also good to see Kai helping out, and his feelings on justice. Kai has always been the one real hero in the crew, and he proves this again here, when he tells Stan what he would have done if the former courier had demanded justice. Once again, there's no way one of the main characters would be convicted of such a heinous crime on any other show, and it's good to see the writers not taking some easy cop-out option here.
