LEXX: '791'

When Lyekka gets hungry, the LEXX crew investigate a distress call, and try to save a group of crash survivors before the plant eats them all. Meanwhile, 790 has a chance for a new body.

This story is quite intriguing in the beginning, with the crashed ship and a dead crew, but some of the answers to the mystery aren't entirely satisfying. In the end, there's not enough explanation for what has happened. More visceral LEXX ideas crop up here, as the prisoners have their hearts removed to stop them escaping. Also, the new body that 790 makes use of decides to indulge its appetites with Stanley Tweedle rather than 790's true love, making for some amusing and unpleasant sequences between the two of them.

Lyekka isn't well used in this story, only serving to do the obligatory killing-off of the week's guest stars. Wherever the LEXX has been, one way or another everyone dies, and it's getting a little predictable. Either the LEXX blows up the planet/satellite/whatever, or His Shadow comes along, or everyone is killed in some other way. This story certainly has some creepy moments, but the pacing is still a little off somewhere. Not a bad effort though.
