Objectives
1. Define the term "Internet" and describe the five key educational applications of the Internet.
2. Briefly summarize the history of the Internet.
3. Compare and contrast the Internet and the World Wide Web.
4. Describe the benefits of connecting the computers in a computer laboratory or school together
in a local area network.
5. Describe two advantages and two disadvantages of an integrated learning system.
6. Describe two advantages and two disadvantages of placing computers in a centralized
laboratory as opposed to individual classrooms.
7. Define the term Distance Education and give two examples of communication devices to deliver
instruction.
8. Use e-mail to communicate with other students, professors, or professionals in a field of
interest.
9. Subscribe to an Electronic Discussion Group.
10. Use Gopher and the World Wide Web to search for and access information available on the
Internet.
11. Download public domain software available from the networks.
