UNIT 3: Computer Tool Applications
Objectives
1. Describe at least two ways in which a computer may be used as a tool application.
2. Define the terms word processing, spreadsheet, database, desktop publishing, desktop
presentation, and tool integration; and give an example of a computer program for each term.
3. State an opinion related to the issue of teaching keyboarding skills or word processing skills
first in the lower grades.
4. Describe how a teacher could use a database and a spreadsheet application in his or her
classroom.
5. Describe each of the three major categories of graphics programs: charting, drawing, and
painting.
6. Develop an original word-processing and graphics document.
