 FTUI
is known as one of the leading engineering school in
Indonesia. It is the largest faculty in
University of Indonesia with over than 3000 students and
250 lecturers in six departments :
There are three kind of education programs in each departments : bachelor programs, extension programs, and post graduate programs for master degree. Today, 60 % of the education staffs have master and/or doctor degree. FTUI has over 60 doctors graduated from top universities in the United States, France, Germany, United Kingdom, Japan, and Australia. Every years, FTUI allocate approximately 2.5 billion Rupiahs for research activities. Those funds come from University Research for Graduate Education program (URGE), Integrated Research, and research cooperation with Pertamina (State owned oil company). In human resource and education development, FTUI has established cooperation with Ministry of Tourism, Post, & Telecommunication, Ministry of Public Works, Pertamina, PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (National Electric Company), etc. FTUI has also been a partner of a number of universities abroad in education programs for master and doctor degree. As the technology continues to develop, It is necessary to have a professional institution with special expertise in technology. Therefore FTUI has founded Lembaga Teknologi FTUI, which is a professional institution with support by experts from FTUI's six departments. LTFTUI has established many cooperation with various other professional and government institutions.
While the University of Indonesia is identic with yellow, which is its symbol color (so identic that UI is famous for the slogan "We are the yellow jackets"), each faculty has its own color. FTUI's color is dark blue. That is why this website is dominated with shades of blue. Sometimes, FTUI is also known for its arrogancy, as the students always say, "There are only two faculties in University of Indonesia, Faculty of Engineering, and non-engineering faculty".

Most
of FTUI activities is centered in the Depok Campus,
located in Depok, a small city just outside Jakarta,
except for post graduate programs, and a number of
laboratories that still reside in Salemba Campus, located
in Central Jakarta.
