THOMAS GREEN PEYTON
Second Captain of the USS Indiana BB-58, 23 January 1943 to 10 August 1943
Thomas Green Peyton was born January 10, 1894 in Richmond, Virginia. He graduated
from the Navy Academy in 1915. He completed courses in submarine and torpedo
instruction qualifying for command of submarines.
14 June 1940 Peyton was detached from commander of Destroyer Division 15 and
reported as Commander of Destroyer Division 18.
18 July 1941 Commissioned regular Captain to rank.
3 Oct 1941-4 May 1942 Commander of Destroyer Squadron 9.
4 May 1942-21 Jan 1943 Sixth Naval District, Charleston, SC
