| Nick turned onto his side and propped his head up with his hand. "So." he said, looking at her. "Tell me something about yourself." Michele laughed to herself that he was trying to make small talk with her. She turned to face him. "What? Mr. Hot-shot wants to get to know me?!" she said in mock disbelief. "Is that what you think of me?" Nick asked, suddenly very serious. Michele realized she may have offended him. "Well, sorta... You sometimes seem so full of it..." she admitted. "And that's why you don't like me huh?" he gathered. Michele nodded. Nick rolled off his bed and jumped beside her onto her bed. "Well, let's change that. We'll talk and get to know each other. Start over..." he suggested. Michele smiled, "Okay, sounds good." "So? Tell me something about you." "Hmmm... hey, you know, if I have to answer, so do you..." "Answer the question, Claire." Michele smiled at his reference to the 80's movie "The Breakfast Club". She was very impressed that he knew it. "Okay, well, I used to dance. I've stopped because I just don't have the time now, being in University and all," she told him. "You were a dancer!?" he said in amazement. He never would have guessed that such a serious and tense danced. "What are you majoring in?" he asked, genuinely interested in what she was telling him. "Film and theatre arts. Okay, your turn," she replied with a grin. "I used to have a band when I was younger... we used to call ourselves The Funky Chickens..." he admitted sheepishly. Michele burst out laughing. "I'm sorry... that's just such a funny name!" "Fine, fine... laugh it up. But nothing we say here leaves here, ya got it?" smiled Nick. He watched Michele try to stifle her giggles. ‘She was so cute when she laughed,' he thought. **************** "Hey Brian?" Howie called out. "Nick still not back yet?" Brian glanced across the hall to Nick's room. "Nope, guess not. I wonder who this ‘friend' is that he's getting a ride from anyway?" he laughed. "So, we shouldn't expect him back at all tonight then huh?" joked Howie. "Guess not!" "Ya think Jennifer knows about this ‘friend'?" "Maybe it IS Jennifer," reasoned Brian. *************** "We're really not gonna get outta here," commented Michele, looking around at the empty store. "Does it matter?" Nick replied with a sly grin. Him and Michele had become a lot more comfortable with each other. They had talked and shared stories and anecdotes about themselves with each other for the past few hours. Michele giggled and shoved Nick. He pretended that she had pushed him hard and that he was about to fall off the edge of the bed. "Woah!" Nick cried, waving his arms. Michele reached out and grabbed his arm to prevent him from falling but instead, he ended up pulling her down with him. Nick landed on his back and Michele landed on top of him, both of them giggling like little children. "See, this is why you should lighten up and smile more..." he said softly. She rolled her eyes and smiled down at him. "I'm serious! You look..." he paused, as he looked into her eyes. "You look really pretty when you laugh..." "Oh, whatever Carter..." she said with a smirk, as she tried to shove him over so she could get up. He held onto her, not letting her go. "You're not gonna believe me are you?" he asked. She shook her head. "Nope, ‘cause you probably say that to all the girls." He looked at her and released his grip on her left hand as he moved his hand to her cheek. He pulled her down to him as he raised his head to meet her's. He kissed her passionately, his hands urging her closer. She responded and ran her fingers through his hair and down the back of his neck. |
