Chapter 6: Desires
"We can never let anyone know about this," Nick worried. He looked over at Michele and saw her disappointed face. "Michele, please understand that. I ... I really like you. I do. But I can't have Jennifer find out about us. Not yet at least. If I wasn't attached, you'd know I would go out with you in a second. But I just can't deal with these complications right now."

Michele nodded, "Okay. I understand. But that means we can't even have a civilized relationship." Nick looked at her curiously, not quite following where she was going with that. Michele continued, "We can't even be friends. We've gotta pretend that we still hate each other or else everyone will wonder what's up."

Nick contemplated that factor. He was torn between Michele and Jennifer. What was he to do? Break up with Jen and go out with Michele or stay with Jen and pretend to not notice Michele's existence? "I think... that for now, it would be better if we act like this never happened."

"Okay," Michele replied. Nick looked at her sadly and after a moment's hesitation, he added, "Well, we haven't left yet right? We don't have to pretend just yet..." Michele looked up at him and smiled. He had a devious look in his blue eyes and he reached for her and pulled her in for a passionate kiss. "Let's make this little opportunity worth our while before we have to go back to hating each other," he said seductively. Any inhibitions he had earlier about cheating were miraculously gone. Nothing else was in his mind right then except to live in the moment. He guided
her down onto the bed while continuing to kiss her, his mouth pressed onto hers.

"Hey baby, where are you going?" Jamie asked A.J. as she approached the guy's house. She had just come from her family dinner and saw everyone heading out the door towards their cars.

"C'mon, get in my car. I'll explain on the way," A.J. told her as he took her hand and led her to his car. So A.J., Jamie and Brian went in one car while Kevin, Alexandra, Howie and Melissa went in another car. Orianne was going to pick up Jennifer who wanted to come and they were going to meet them there.

A.J. explained to Jamie what was going on while they drove to Ikea. Kevin was on his cell phone trying to get a hold of someone who could open the door for them.

Fifteen minutes later, the three cars pulled into the deserted parking lot. Deserted except for Michele's car. Kevin had been put on hold from the customer service people and was waiting impatiently for some assistance.

Orianne's car stopped and Jennifer ran out of the car and headed to the front doors, pulling on all of them, as if Michele and Nick wouldn't have thought of that already. The others approached her and a few of them started banging on the doors, trying to get Nick and Michele's attention. There was no sign of anyone in there and Jennifer banged on the door a little harder.

Alexandra got them to stop when she noticed that Kevin was speaking to someone on the phone. "Yes, two of my friends are trapped in your store. Don't you have people check the store before you lock it up!? Okay, we'll be here. Bye." Kevin hung up with the person at Ikea and told the others that someone will be here shortly to open the door for them.

Michele kissed Nick's neck and ran her fingers along his bare back. She suddenly paused and looked at him curiously. "Did you hear that?"

Nick stopped, his lips hovering over her collarbone, and listened carefully. They could hear the faintest knocking or banging. "Do you think that's them?" Michele shrugged and they got up. Nick
retrieved his shirt from the floor while Michele buttoned up her's. "Well," Nick said reluctantly when they were decent again. "I guess this is it."

"Yeah, I guess so..." Michele replied, giving him a coy smile. Nick held out his arms and Michele hugged him tightly. He tilted her head up and brought her lips to meet his. "C'mon, let's go," he said quietly.

"Okay, stupid," Michele said with a smile.

"Shut up!" Nick retorted and winked. They headed towards the front of the store in sexual tension-filled silence.
