Chapter 14
A Year Later

It was the day of my wedding and I was standing in the dressing room putting my hair up. “JJ, where’s the veil?” I asked, searching for the beautiful silk veil.

“It’s over here, we’re getting it ready. Is your hair done?”

“Yeah, I’m so nervous JJ. I can’t stop shaking.”

“Don’t worry Beth, you look beautiful, and you’ll be fine. Your getting married, you have a right to be nervous.”

“I know, and I love Nick so much, I just want this day to be perfect.” I sighed and put on my veil. I looked myself over in the mirror once more. This was the last time I would see myself as a single woman. I was wearing the most beautiful dress: it was sleeveless with a very small V-neck, it was a long evening gown that went down to my ankles. My long dark hair was in a butterfly clip and spilled out in spaghetti curls. I sighed as JJ came over to me and put her arm around my shoulder.

“You look beautiful. Nick is going to die when he sees you.”

I smiled. “Thanks JJ, you look nice too.” She, Leighanne, Kristen, Lyndsey, and BJ were my bridesmaids. They were wearing light blue dresses. Aaron was the ring bearer, and Leslie was the flower girl. I sighed, and JJ took my arm and led me outside to take pictures then head to the wedding. They took about thirty pictures and then let us go on our way. I was very nervous and I was sure Nick was too. It took about ten minutes to drive to there. We were getting married at these gardens near the place where I grew up. There was an arch in the middle with climbing roses on each side, flowers all around and plenty of sunshine and trees. It was a place I had dreamed about getting married in since I was a little girl. Now that dream was coming true. When we got there I had to be careful about letting my dress drag on the ground. We had set up a place behind the arch and out of sight to wait. The wedding started in twenty minutes and I was really nervous.

“Bethany, are you ok?” JJ asked me.

“I’m fine, just nervous. And I miss Nick.” I hadn’t seen him all morning, we decided not to sleep in the same room the night before, and when I woke up he’d gone to get his tux from the cleaners.

“Are you sure, you look pale.”

“Yeah, I’m sure.”

“Ok, well it’s fifteen minutes till we start. I’m going to see how your lovely fiancé is.”

“Oh ok, tell him I love him with all my heart and that I miss him.”

“Awww that’s so sweet; I’ll tell him.” She turned and walked away towards the side we’d set up for Nick to wait in. I stood there thinking about Nick and our new life together when JJ came back. “Bethany, he says he loves you too, and that he can’t wait to see you. And boy does he look good.”

“I bet, he always looks good.” I smiled; it was nice to know that he was thinking about me.

“Oh, and Brian insists on making Nick want to see you so bad, that he’s on his way over here.”

“That’s not very nice, but whatever.” We stood there talking for a while until Brian showed up.

“Wow, you look hot!” Brian said.

“Hey! You’re already married!” Leighanne said.

“I know, I think Nick would be sad if I married her anyway. But you look beautiful Bethany, you really do.”

“Thanks Brian, that means a lot.”

“Your welcome, well I’d better go, your getting married in five minutes.”

“Bye, say hi to everyone for me and tell Nick I love him.”

“I will, and good luck!”

“Thanks.” I sighed. “Well, I’d better get ready, where are the flowers?”

“Over here,” Leighanne said bringing them over to me. I was straitening up my dress when the wedding began.
