| Chapter 7 | ||||||
| Starting to pack, I decided to pack only what I would really need. "Do you have any idea what you're going to say when you get there?" Freddie asked, flinging himself onto my bed. Taking a few more shirts, I walked to my suitcase and locked it. "No, not a clue," I admitted bluntly. I turned to face him and fell on my back onto the bed. He took me into his arm as I snuggled into his chest. "I still think this is a stupid idea," he said, going on, "Nothing is going to change my mind to think that it's not." He looked at me in the face seriously, "If anything happens to you, I would be losing half a part of me. You know that, right?" Starting to get teary-eyed, he wrapped his arms around me tighter. "You're like my big sister," he whispered. "You're all I got left." I pulled away from him and put my hands onto his face, making him look into my eyes. "If anything happens to me -- which it won't," I grinned, "I'll always look over you. You're the only one who really ever loved me. You know." Taking my hands into his, he replied, "I have this really weird feeling that, that's about to change." ******************** "So, you have everything?" Claudia asked me. "Yep. My flight doesn't leave until six o'clock, though. I already called Lisa and told her that I was going away for a while, visiting my parents or something. So I have four hours left to spare..." She looked at me for a second, then at the door. "Well how about we go get some coffee one last time before you leave?" Grabbing my coat and keys, I replied, "Let's." Later as we both sipped our coffees, we gazed at the passersby. "Honestly, do you think what I'm doing is a good idea?" I asked Claudia. Thinking for a moment first, she answered, "Yeah, I think you are." In a few hours I was going to travel to Florida to see the Backstreet Boys. They were going to have three concerts there and do a couple talk shows. Freddie, Claudia, and I had figured that they would be staying in Florida for at least week or so. Making countless phone calls, we'd confirmed that our assumptions were correct; the boys were going to be in the state for a week, having a couple days off during their stay. I figured the only way to stop everything from happening, I would have to start by being near the boys. After all, they were the main part of this whole destroying the Earth plan. The only main concern at the moment, however, was how the hell I would tell them and if they would believe me. Interrupting my thoughts, Claudia asked me, "So, when you get there, how are you going to get in and tell them?" Taking another sip of my drink, I replied, "I figured I would formulate a plan and everything during the flight. I know I can get to them one way or another if I really had to try." Wiping her mouth with a napkin, she teased, "Aww, the old big, bad, buffed vampire trick, right?" She laughed. "No, I was thinking more the girlie-slut approach," I replied with a smirk. "Ugh," she pretended to be offended, then playfully swatted at me. ******************** "You have everything with you, right?" Freddie questioned me -- yet again. "Yes, Freddie, I have all the gizmos you gave me." Disgusted, he replied, "They're called a cell phone and a beeper, Rachel. Not some gizmos." Turning to face Claudia, he continued in exasperation, "Can you believe her?" and shook his head teasingly. "Gizmos, humph," he whispered. "Last call for Flight 180 to Orlando, Florida. Flight 180 to Orlando, Florida!" we heard booming over the air waves. "Okay, that would be me," I said. Hugging both of them, I turned and made my way to the terminal. ******************** "Welcome to Flight 180. Please sit back and relax for the next three hours as we are headed for the Orlando International Airport." Sighing, I leaned back and shifted in my seat to get more comfortable. Okay, how am I going to get them to notice me? I thought, no longer able to put off the important questions running through my head. Nick, Brian, Howie, Kevin, and TJ. Wait, I mean AJ. You all are going to be part of a sacrifice for a great, ancient ritual. Oh yeah, they'll REALLY believe me. I sighed again. Well if they don't, I can always use my true vampire form. Suddenly I started hearing familiar music playing very close by. "Tell me why! I never want to hear you say, 'cause I want it that way." I turned my head to the right, toward the direction of the music. Smiling, I saw a mother and daughter across from me. The little girl -- surely not more then eight years old -- was listing to her CD player, looking through some BSB pictures. Her mother was leaning back into her chair, reading some new best-seller book. Noticing that I was staring at her, the little girl turned to me and took off her head phones. "My Mommy is taking me to see the Backstreet Boys in the Ice Palace!" she declared giddy. "I'm going to see Nick Carter and ask him to marry me!" Smiling and laughing, I replied, "Really? I'm going to marry Brian." Then I winked at her. Giggling she turned around and put her head phones back on. Oh God, I hope this all works out. |
