Chapter 9: Possessions
Jenny never knew she had it in her. The pile of drawings next to her grew faster than she might have ever thought possible. Why she had the sudden urge to draw, she didn't know. Nick was just as surprised at how much she drew as she was. However, he was also pleased. He was like a little boy, hovering around her shoulder; always trying to get a better view of what she was drawing next. Each sketch was different from the last, too. Every time Jenny sat another finished picture in the pile, Nick grabbed at it, hasty but careful not to rip it, and studied it for atleast a minute as if the character would move if he stared long enough.

All the while she was drawing, Jenny was only thinking of how weird the next couple of months were going to be. She still wasn't sure why she was drawing so much, but finally settled on the idea that it was the only way to keep her from having to talk to Nick. Not that she hated the guy, but he was a little eccentric.

After an hour and a half of drawing, her wrist and arm started to ache, so Jenny decided to call it quits. Setting her three-times-smaller pencil down on the counter, she rubbed her knuckles profusely. Nick was just returning from putting her drawings somewhere for safekeeping. He noticed Jenny rubbing her hands.

"Is something wrong?" he asked with concern.

"Oh, nothing really. I guess I just drew too much. My joints hurt. I'm all right, though," Jenny answered.

"Oh... um. Okay," Nick said with less worry in his face. "So what made ya draw so much? I don't know if ah've ever just drawn that much at a time." Jenny didn't think it would be a good idea to actually tell him that she did it so she wouldn't have to talk to him.

"I don't know. Maybe it's because I haven't drawn in so long, and I just felt like it," she shrugged. He seemed to accept her answer, then he left the area to another end of the bus. Jenny started looking around and then out the window. The scenery wasn't familiar so she assumed they weren't even in Ohio anymore. "Hey, um..."
Damn, I can't remember anyone else's name! "...does anyone know where we are? Or where we are going?" she asked.

"We are probably a little further east than Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. And I believe we are going to New York City," Kevin answered. Jenny's heart sank. Who knows how long they had already been on the road, and now she finds out that they still have several more hours to go!
I might as well make the best of this by conversation.

"What's in New York City?" she inquired.

"An interview. Then we go ta Orlando for our first show of the tour. That will be in 'boutta week," Howie supplied with excitement in his voice. "Are you excited for it? You know you don't gotta be in the audience. You get ta be under the stage with us. And maybe you will come-" AJ placed his hand over Howie's mouth.

"Come? Come where?" she wondered. AJ smiled, releasing his hand from Howie's face, and Howie's own grin appeared. Jenny was sorry she asked. She decided she wouldn't worry. It didn't seem like they were going to answer her, anyway.

Just then Nick came back and Jenny smiled up at him before she realized it. He smiled back and went over to sit next to her as if that's where he belonged. The way he moved and his facial expression made him seem extremely possessive of her. She noticed it. So did the other four Backstreet Boys. AJ's and Howie's grins turned into mischievous smirks. Brian hid his smile behind his hand, trying to keep from laughing. Kevin's reaction wasn't anything like the others'. It was obvious he was shocked and hadn't had a clue that Nick liked her, or that she found him annoying. He sat there, staring, with his eyebrows pressing together on his forehead in concentration.

Jenny started blushing. She tried to give a small smile. She tried to compose herself. She sure did try, but wasn't successful at either. Her eyes wandered around the room, examining every face except Nick's; she wouldn't look at him. When she reached Kevin, she just gazed at his eyebrows. She assumed that every time they moved, Kevin had just worked out another confusion in his mind.
Man, those things are bushy, Jenny thought, in reference to Kevin's eyebrows.

She shook her head to get her mind off of the guys, and tried to think of something else. Then all of the sudden, she remembered.
The short one with long curly hair had said we were going to New York City for an interview. Then we would head down to Florida for the beginning of the tour. If we are so close to the first concert, why would they be going to an interview? They are busy enough as it is.

"You said that we are on our way to an interview? What's this interview about?" she asked. Each of them got a small smile on their faces as soon as her question was out. "What is it?" Brian leaned over to her from across the table.

"The interview is about you."
