Chapter 10: A Friend Among Enemies?
"AJ, will you go and wake Jenny up? We will be at the radio station in about two minutes, I'm guessing. She should have atleast a moment to get her thoughts together before the interview," Kevin suggested as he passed AJ, going into the bathroom as AJ came out.

"Uh, sure. I suppose she will wanna straighten herself up, anyway. I'll go get her," AJ returned. The bathroom door shut as Kevin nodded. AJ was making his way down the bus when he met up with Nick. He planned on just passing by without a word, but Nick grabbed his shoulder to get his attention.

"Where ya goin', man? The interview is like a moment away. We gotta get ready."

"I was just on my way ta wake Jenny. Since the interview IS about her, I was going to make sure she was up in time to get prepared," replied AJ. With that, he started to continue on his way. Nick held him back again.

"Oh, I can go get her. I'm all ready now. You should get finished," Nick suggested.

"I am finished, actually. It's no trouble," AJ insisted. A look of hopelessness appeared on Nick's face and he looked down at his feet. It was as if he was out of ideas for something. After a moment, he bit his lip and looked back up at AJ, ready to say something else. AJ's smile cut him off.

"Why ya smiling?" Nick wondered, clearly confused. AJ wondered about this for a moment.
His confusion seems sincere. Is it possible that he doesn't even realize how obvious he is? Maybe he doesn't even realize he likes her... AJ's grin widened. This tour sure is going to be interesting.

"Nothing. It isn't important," he replied. "You can go wake her, Nick. I just remembered something I hafta do, anyway. See ya!" AJ patted Nick on the shoulder in goodbye and walked down the pathway on the bus. Nick was very confused about what had just happened, but shrugged it off and made his way toward Jenny.

Shaking her shoulder lightly, Nick whispered, "Jenny. Jen. You gotta get up. We are in New York. You gotta get ready!" Her eyes slowly opened as she blinked to get used to the light. Her gaze roamed the room. Her face made it obvious how exausted she was. A few yawns slipped from her mouth. Nick uncontrollably yawned back. He only smiled when she looked at him.

"Why was I sleeping? I don't even remember falling asleep... WE'RE AT NEW YORK ALREADY?!" she exclaimed as what Nick had whispered registered in her mind.

"Yeah, we are here. I am supposed to wake you up so you have time to get prepared. You're gonna be answering some questions, and I thought you would want to compose yourself first." Nick smiled proudly once he finished carefully pronouncing each word.

"But I was only sleeping."

"You fainted."

"I what?!"

Nick laughed. "When Brian told you about the interview, you fainted and slept through the rest of the ride to New York." Jenny just breathed in deeply.
How could I have fainted? Maybe this trip with these guys isn't such a good idea. She shook her head and started to sit up. Nick tried to help her in any way. She stared up at him with an annoyed look on her face and pushed his hand away.

"I can sit up on my own, thank you. Well, thanks for getting me up..." she looked around at an unfamiliar room, "...and for bringing me back here to sleep. I'm sure I needed the rest, anyway."

"Welcome!" Nick returned, beaming. Jenny didn't notice this, though. She was still trying to think through everything. Why had she fainted? Why was Nick being so extra nice to her? Why did she find it cute and annoying at the same time? She shook her head again and tried to stand up. Nick helped her, once again. She decided to let him. She was actually kind of dizzy.

I better hurry. I need to clean my appearance up and find out what sort of questions I will be asked. I don't want to be caught off guard.
As much as she was intent on thinking about the interview, Nick kept coming into her mind as she got ready in the bathroom. Am I actually starting to like the guy? Lord, help me! She continued washing her face; scrubbing the surface harder as if it would make her feel better. A knock came from the other side of the door. She froze.

"Yes?" Jenny called out.

"I need ta use the room when yer done, all right?" replied a voice.

"Uh, ok. I'll hurry..." Jenny answered.
I need to get away from here. They won't even let me be in peace in the bathroom! Jenny sighed, set down her washcloth, and began to brush her teeth. If she had to be at this interview, she was atleast going to look her best! Another knock came.

"What?" she wondered.

"I actually need to use it now -  ya know..." She sighed and spit out her toothpaste.

"All right, I'm coming out after I rinse my mouth!" she exclaimed annoyedly. After rinsing and wiping her mouth off, Jenny opened the door to reveal the short one with the black curly hair. She forced a smile and tried to squeeze her way out of the room without bumping into him too much.

"I'm really sorry for the inconvenience, but you understand, right?" Howie asked.

Jenny just repeatedly nodded her head, refusing to look at his face. After he finally closed the door, she just sighed to herself and headed toward the front of the bus, hoping to learn something about what she was about to be doing.
