| Chapter 11: Backstreet Trivia? | |||||
| She walked with her shoulders straight and her head forward. She looked like a star. She felt like a lost soul with no where to turn. The radio station was so huge; she wouldn't even know where to go if she wanted to get out. Strangers were everywhere, and all of them were staring at her. Some smiled. Others just looked her over from head to toe with no expression on their faces, leaving her no clue as to what they were thinking. The only thing helping to keep her composure was the fact that she had learned at an early age to never let "them" see your fear. The five Backstreet Boys positioned themselves around her as they walked, as if protecting her from all sides. It DID make her feel safer. She was still terrified, though. And if she had noticed it, she would have stopped herself from getting closer to Nick with every step. The tips that the guys had given her on the bus were racing through her mind. They were going so fast, though, that she couldn't seem to latch onto a single one, and felt even more like she was headed into this interview on her own. Only one thought was present in the front of her mind: I don't know all of their names. Realizing this, Jenny went into a full out panic. Her movement didn't show it, but if anyone had seen her face at that moment, they might have thought she had seen a ghost. Her skin went pale, and her mouth dropped down a slight bit. What am I going to do? I'm sure they will ask me questions about the Boys; and I won't even know which one they are talking about! Seeing that Brian was to her left, Jenny started moving closer to him. Once she was at his side, she whispered, "What's everyone's name? I can't remember!" He wanted to laugh but then looked over at her and saw the horror in her eyes. "You know Nick, right?" Jenny nodded. "Well, I'm Brian. We are good friends, maybe you can remember me that way. The tall, dark-haired one is Kevin. He is actually my cousin. We are both from Kentucky. Kevin. Kentucky. I don't know if that would help. A.J. is the one with the weird clothes. I can't help you with him, I guess you will just have to remember that A.J. has different styles. And, um, Howie is the other short one. With the curly hair," Brian ended, hoping she had it all figured out in her head. I know Nick, and since Brian is his friend, I will remember that. Kevin... the tall one. Brian's cousin. A.J. has strange clothes and hair. Howie has curly hair. Well, I will remember him from the bathroom... I hope! She looked over at Brian, giving a small smile. "I think I got it. Thanks!" she whispered, and then started her way back to the "center" of the group. They all turned the corner and entered a broadcasting area. This is going to be live? Oh great... Jenny was about to faint again, but told herself to calm down. I can do this. Nick pulled out a chair for her, smiling as always. She smiled back, actually meaning it, and took her seat. The interviewer handed her the head set. She stared at it, knowing what it was for, but afraid to put it on. Shrugging her shoulders, she set it on her head and gave her attention to the guy distributing the rest of the headsets to everyone else. When he was finished, he leaned over to her, whispering, "We start in a minute, here are the questions." A sheet of paper was placed in front of her. Scanning the list, she saw that a few were trivia questions about the Boys. Oh my goodness, she thought. "We start in five, four, three, two, one..." |
