Sarg 50 - Raam in Mithilaa

Vishwaamitra Jee arrived in Mithilaa Puree with Raam and Lakshman. Raam did Darshan of many Rishi Muni who came there to see that Yagya. Raam said to Muni to select his staying place. Vishwaamitra Jee selected a lonely place where water was also nearby. Raajaa Janak came to welcome Muni with his ministers and Purohit Shataanand. Muni asked Raajaa's welfare. Raajaa also asked other Rishi's welfare, then he asked Muni - "I am fortunate to have you here. Tell me something about these two Tapaswee boys. Who are they?"

Vishwaamitra Jee said - "They are Raajaa Dashrath's  princes. I brought them to kill Raakshas who used to attack my Siddhaashram and to show them Mithilaa and Vishaal Nagaree. They have come to your city after giving Darshan to Ahilyaa and Gautam Rishi.

Sarg 51 - Shataanand Asks About His Mother Ahilyaa

When Maharshi Gautam's son Shataanand Jee heard this, he got very happy. He asked Vishwaamitra Jee - "Did my mother meet my father? Did my parents worship Shree Raam methodically? Did you tell the story of Indra's bad Karm?" Vishwaamitra Jee said - "Hey Muni, Whatever I have done, I have done it within limits of Dharm. As Bhaargav (another name of Parashuraam's father Jamdagni) and Renukaa met, in the same way Gautam and Ahilyaa also met."

Shataanand Jee said to Raam - "I welcome you. There is no one else today as fortunate as you because Vishwaamitra Jee is your protector. Now I tell you how Kaushik (Vishwaamitra's another name) got his power of Tap. This glorious Vishwaamitra Jee is the son of Raajaa Gaadhi. he ruled for thousands of years. Once he wandered around on Prithvi with his one Akshauhinee army. During that period, he came to Vashishth Muni's Aashram. Thousands of living beings , Devtaa, Gandharv, Braahman etc used to live there. Many Rishi lived there only on water, or air, or leaves.

Sarg 52- Vishwaamitra and Vashishth

Raajaa Vishwaamitra Jee saw that Aashram and got very happy to see it. Maharshi Vashishth Jee welcomed him, offered an Aasan to sit upon and fruits and flowers to eat. Raajaa accepted them and asked the welfare of other Muni etc. In exchange Vashishth Jee also asked about his kingdom and its affairs. They talked for long and both got happy to see one other. Then Vashishth Jee said - "Hey Raajan, I wish to offer you food, so please accept it."

Voshwaamitra Jee said - "You are our respectable, still you offered us fruits, flowers, water etc. That is enough for us. There is no need to do anything more for us. Now I would like to go. Just be pleased with me, this is my earnest request to you." In spite of refusal, Vashishth Jee convinced Raajaa to accept his invitation, and Raajaa accepted it.

Vashishth Jee called his Kapilaa cow and asked her to make all arrangements of food etc for Vishwaamitra's army.

Sarg 53 - Vishwaamitra Jee  Insists Vashishth Jee to give Kapilaa Cow

Kapilaa cow made all kinds of arrangements for Vishwaamitra's army. She piled up heaps and heaps of variety of foods. Vishwaamitra and his army was much too surprised and satisfied with that invitation. [After the food] he said to Vashishth Jee - "Hey Muni, We are very happy with you, but you give me this Kapilaa cow. I can give you as many cows as you want in return of that cow." Vashishth Jee said - "I won't accept anything in exchange of that cow, because she is my life-giver. I am unable to give it to you, because she arranges food for Devtaa also, therefore I cannot separate her from me."

Vishwaamitra Jee said -" "I will give you 14,000 elephants, 108 golden Chariots, 10,000  horses and 100 million cows. But please give this cow to me." Vashishth Jee said  - "Please do not compel me, I just cannot give you this cow."
