Sarg 51 - Lakshman Talks in the Night 

As Guh was awake to protect his guests, in the same way Lakshman was also awake after Raam had slept. Seeing this Guh got very sad. He said to Lakshman - "Hey prince, Please take some rest on the bed which is specially prepared for you, because you have never experienced any kind of difficulty. You may sleep and I will be awake, because I am used to it. Hey Lakshman, I swear to you, I have nobody else dearer to me than Raam, He is my great friend. So Lakshman, you go and sleep and I will wake up to protect my friend. I know this forest very well and even if somebody comes with his Chaturanginee army, I can face him.

Lakshman said to Guh - "O knower of Dharm, We are indeed fearless under your protection. While Raam and Seetaa are sleeping on the ground, it is not proper  for me to sleep or enjoy any pleasure of life, because whoever Raam cannot be won even by Devtaa and Gandharv, the same Raam is sleeping on the ground along with Seetaa. While Raam is in the forest, Raajaa Dashrath will also not able to be alive, and Prithvi will surely be widowed. Women will get tired remembering Raam for many days, they will get quiet.

I don't accept Raajaa Dashrath, Maa Kaushalyaa and my mother will be alive till tonight. Maybe my mother will be alive because she will be waiting for my younger brother Shatrughn, but Kaushalyaa must have been dead by now or will die soon. Public who loves Raam very much will also get destroyed after Raajaa has died. 

I am sure that after father had died, Maa Kaushalyaa would also die; and after Kaushalyaa had died, my mother would also die. Raajaa Dashrath will surely die because he could not fulfill his desire to perform Raajya Tilak (crowning ceremony) of Raam. When father will be in his last moments, then whoever will do the last rites will be the king of Ayodhyaa and will be fortunate. And if father survived, then the city will be able to live happily and we also will see our father." Lakshman talked like this and all passed the night like this talking. Guh's heart moved hearing Lakshman, he started weeping hearing all this.
