Sarg 51 - Raavan-Jataayu Fight

Seeing Jataayu  ready for fight, Raavan got infuriated and attacked Jataayu. A fierce took place between them. Jataayu used his paws to stop Raavan's Naaleek, Naaraach and Vikarni like arrows to stop wounding him and to attack him in return.

Seeing Jaanakee crying, Jataayu proceeded towards Raavan without caring for his wounds and destroyed Raavan's gold bow studded with gems and pearls by hitting it through his paws. Then Raavan took out another bow and stormed arrows at Jataayu. Jataayu broke his new bow also, He also broke his armor also. He knocked off his donkeys also which were pulling his chariot. He broke the royal umbrella also which was fixed on his chariot and killed his Saarathee by his beak.

When Raavan's chariot got destroyed then he came out on the ground grabbing Seetaa by Her lower torso. But till then Jataayu got tired, so Raavan flew in the sky holding Seetaa onto his flank. His all things were destroyed leave alone sword. So as he rose to the sky, Jataayu gathered himself and said - "Are you taking Seetaa to destroy all Raakshas? And thus you are poisoning your brothers, your friends and yourself, because Raam will surely kill you.

Whatever you are doing, that is the act of a thief, not of a mighty person. If you are brave, then come and fight with me. As anybody does any bad Karm because of  his destruction, you are also doing the same. If you can fight with Raam, then Raam will surely kill you in the fight as He killed Khar."

After saying thus, Jataayu attacked his back and started ripping off his skin with his claws' sharp nails, wings and beaks. This hurt Raavan very much. Then Raavan put Seetaa in his left flank and hit Jataayu with his palm. Jataayu broke his 10 arms (in order to free Vaidehee from his clutch) but Raavan grew them again. Then Raavan started hitting Jataayu with his hands and feet leaving Seetaa at one side. Raavan cut Jataayu's both wings with his sword. Now Jataayu fell on the ground. Seetaa ran towards him, hugged him as if he was Her own relative and cried nbitterly.

Sarg 52 - Raavan Takes Away Seetaa

Seetaa saw dying Jataayu who was killed by Raavan, and wept bitterly. Seetaa said crying - "Raam, [Human beings do know about the coming sorrows and joys by some uncommon signs, like reflexes of body parts, sneezing, fluttering of eyes etc, but you don't know through them yet] Even deer, birds are running to inform you about my abduction, but you still don't know about it. See this Pakshee Raaj (king of birds) Jataayu, he tried to help me, but he is dying because of my ill luck. Hey Raam, Hey Lakshman, please help me." All Her jewelry was falling down and Raavan rushed towards such Vaidehee.

Then Raavan took Seetaa and started again for Lankaa. She was crying Raam, Raam in the wilderness. Raavan was pulling Her by Her hair. Seeing Seetaa's insult like this, Brahmaa Jee thought, "now consider our job done". All were happy to know that now Raavan's death was near and sure but sad to see Seetaa's insult.

Seeing Seetaa crying so much Raavan took Her by skyway. Seetaa looked like a gold nugget flying in the sky because She was wearing yellow clothes, while Raavan looked like a mountain. Red lotus petals were also falling down from Seetaa's body, not on Prithvi, but on Ravan's feet blown with wind. Her grace got dim because She was not with Raam. Her face looked like golden Moon rising from blue clouds.

Seetaa's flower ornaments fell down on Prithvi while She was abducted. Seetaa's gem-studded Noopur (anklet) fell on the ground in the process of attempting to be free from Raavan. Some of Her sparkled ornaments also fell on the ground. They looked like fallen stars. Her one multi-string pendant which looked like Gangaa River also fell down.

Trees stirred up well by blown up winds, and upheaved are their tree-tops in swaying motion as if they were consoling Seetaa - "Fear not, fear not." [Tree itself is born from Earth, Seetaa is also born from Earth, thus the nature itself was lamenting on Her being like this.]

Seeing Seetaa going like this, Soorya's light became dim. He said to Raavan -"Hey Raam, Where are you, see, your Seetaa is abducted by Raavan." Seetaa was repeatedly calling Raam, Lakshman. Her hair got loose, Her clothes were displaced.

With wilted lotuses, fishes and other water creatures lakes were sorrowing for Maithilee, as though She was their girlfriend. All tigers, lions, animals, birds gathered and ran as the shadow of the shadow of Seetaa. The mountains appeared moaning, with their waterfalls shedding tears and with their peaks as their upraising arms. They are all sad because Raam's wife is being abducted and nobody can do anything.

Sarg 53 - Seetaa Again Warns Raavan

Seetaa became frantically dismayed by the flight of Raavan. Her coppery-eyes were tearful. She said to Raavan - "O wicked Raavan, You are stealing me taking the advantage of my lonliness, are you not ashamed of your bad Karm? You sent my husband far after a Maayaa Mrig because you planned it like this. You killed that king of vultures also who tried to help me. Are you very proud of your name that 'I am Raavan, I have conquered Seetaa in a fight'. A woman who is lonely, is other man's wife, is being abducted by Raavan [the mightiest]. How unashamed you are.

Why are you running away so fast, just stay back for some time, you will not be able to go back alive. You can still release me and if you didn't, then my husband will surely kill you. For whatever purpose you are taking me, you will not be able to fulfill it, because I will not be able to live without Raam. I can see that your Kaal is near but you are not afraid of it. O Raavan, You will the Vaitarnee River streaming blood and sword-leaved trees in Narak. You cannot live long with the enmity of Raam. [Seetaa says - The lasso may be long but the noose is only of throat size. I am Raam's and will remain Raam's. So I am His lasso. Noose is that arrow which is already shot in the form of lasso Seetaa. So wherever you go you will not be able to escape.] He who alone, without the help of His brother, killed 14,000 Raakshas, can He spare your life, who has abducted His wife?
