Sarg 53 - Raavan Sends Vajradanshtra

When Raavan heard the killing of Dhoomraaksh, he got very sad. He called Vajradanshtra and sent him to kill Raam and Sugreev with his huge army. Vajradanshtra got very happy to receive this order. He quickly went out with his huge army to kill Raam and Sugreev. He was riding a very beautiful gold chariot which had many flags and ornaments. Many Raakshas followed him with their various weapons. They came out of south gate where Angad was standing. Bad omens started occurring but Vajra kept patience and came out of the Gate. Monkeys started shouting seeing Raakshas coming out. Both parties fought bravely.

Sarg 54 - Angad Kills Vajradanshtra

Vajra foresaw destruction of his army so he got very angry. He immediately picked his bow and started shooting arrows at monkeys. His army also followed him with their various weapons. Many monkeys and Raakshas were killed, many were wounded, many lost their hands and feet. Gradually, Vajra's all army got killed by monkeys in front of Vajra's eyes.

Now Vajra was more furious than before, so he entered monkeys' army alone. He shot many 7-, 8-, 9-, 5-head arrows at monkeys. Now it was monkeys turn. They ran to Angad. Angad came to their rescue. Angad threw a huge a rock on his chariot. Vajra jumped out of his chariot and his chariot got crushed with the weight of the rock. Now they started dual fight. Later both got tired and lay down. In a couple of moments Angad got up with the speed of lightening and cut Vajra's head with his clean sword. Seeing Vajra killed all Raakshas ran away in Lankaa. Angad got very happy to kill Vajradanshtra.

Sarg 55 - Raavan Sends Akampan to Fight

Hearing the news of killing of Vajradanshtra by Angad, Raavan told his army-chief that they (with his army) should go to the battlefield under the leadership of Akampan. He was very knowledgeable in warfare and loved to fight. He always wished good for him. He was sure that he would win Raam, Lakshman and Sugreev.

So this time Akampan went to fight along with his huge army. Even Devtaa could not move him in war. As he went out, his horses got discouraged and bad omens started occurring. He ignored those omens and proceeded for fight. Monkey got frightened to see such a huge army but still they came forward to fight with them. Both armies were ready to sacrifice their lives for their Swaamee - Raam and Raavan. All were brave and mighty. All were huge-bodied.

Kumud, Nal, Mayand were furious. They started killing Raakshas like anything, so other monkeys also followed them. They also killed many Raakshas.

Sarg 56 - Hanumaan Kills Akampan

Akampan got very angry to see all this. He asked his Saarathee to take his chariot amidst monkeys. Saarathe obeyed him. As he came near monkeys, he started showering arrows. This war was so fierce that monkeys couldn't even stand Akampan, leave alone fighting.

Hanumaan came to their rescue. Akampan showered his arrows at Hanumaan also. Hanumaan didn't care for his arrows, picked a huge rock and ran to kill Akampan. Akampan broke that rock with his half-moon-shaped arrows. Then Hanumaan started uprooting trees and throwing them on Raakshas. Raakshas got disturbed and started running away. Akampan pierced Hanumaan with 14 sharp arrows. Hanumaan uprooted a large tree and hit it on Akampan's head. This made Akampan dizzy, fall and die. All remaining Raakshas got very sad to see Akampan dead and ran away to Lankaa. Everybody appreciated Hanumaan.
