Autokill
Written by Brian Clemens | Directed by Roy Ward Baker

Prologue
Richard and Sharron are the hosts of a big house party. They both serve trays of champagne and hors d'oevres to their guests. While on the stairs, Richard and a beautiful girl share a look. A nearby jealous guy doesn't appreciate this and when Richard passes, holding a tray of full glasses, he trips him. Richard somersaults forward and lands on the floor, still holding the tray and without a drop of champange spilled.

"Richard Barrett, one of the Champions. Possessing, with Craig Stirling and Sharron Macready, incredible powers. Survivors of an air crash in the mountains of Tibet where they met a people of an unknown civilisation who mended their bodies and endowed them with fantastic skills. Skills that include dexterity and control, now with the extent of their powers a secret known only to them they're able to use their super qualities to the best advantage as Champions of law, order and justice. Operators of the international agency of Nemesis."

Synopsis
A Nemesis agent (George), who has been recently missing, walks into headquarters and shoots his friend, a senior Nemesis official. Dr. Amis discovers a powerful drug found in his blood, leading the Champions to believe that he was previously abducted and programmed to kill. Tremayne then disappears, reappears after a few hours and attempts to kill Dr. Amis. Both Tremayne and George had lost their briefcases. When Richard's wallet is stolen, he allows himself to be lured to a phony police station, where he too is given the drug. His target is to be Craig. But unless Craig and Sharron can find an antidote both Tremayne and Richard will die.

Review
Another unusal episode where the "champions" are battling an enemy for more personal reasons than any other. Craig and Sharron are the ones who must not only save Tremayne, but also Richard from death. All this after their friend George has already succumb to the drug's power and died. The final scenes are wonderful very exciting, like the opening scene. The entire episode flows very well with good pace, making this one of the most suspenseful in the series.

Since Richard is being trained to kill, we get some interesting information on his background. He was born in 1938 in Salisbury, Wiltshire. His father was a banker, and they had a good relationship. He does not have a brother, but we are not told whether he has a sister. We know that in the previous summer, he and Craig went waterskiing in Miami, Florida.

A superb episode. It is one of the most entertaining in the series with some classic scenes (especially in the last 10 minutes!). Another great moment is when the trio see Tremayne firing a gun at the doctor, they stop him by jumping on him and forceably taking the gun away. Richard and Craig pounce him and Sharron dives off his desk aiming for his legs!
