The Ghost Plane
Written by Donald James | Directed by John Gilling

Prologue
A runaway van threatens to collide with a group of unsuspecting children playing in the road. Craig runs after the van, climbing in and stopping it just in time.

"Craig Stirling, one of the Champions. Three people: Craig Stirling, Sharron Macready and Richard Barrett, endowed with the qualities and skills of super humans. Qualities and skills, both physical and mental, to the peak of human performance. A runaway van moving at speed, but it is now a speed Craig Stirling can match. And it becomes another example of the gifts that were given to him, and his two colleagues, by an unknown race of people from a lost city in Tibet. Gifts that are a secret to be closely guarded. A secret that enables them to use their powers to their best advantage. The Champions of law, order and justice. Operators of the international agency of Nemesis."

Synopsis
A mysterious high-speed, super technological aircraft, apparently from China, shoots down U.S. Navy fighter planes off the coast of Hong Kong. Dr. Newman whose design for such an aircraft was shelved by the British government, has sold the plan to the Chinese and is shipping them 250 of the planes disguised as car and refridgerator parts. When Sharron investigates, she is captured by Newman and his colleagues and locked in a freezer as they prepare the last shipment of parts bound for Albania then on to China. Richard and Craig are given the task of stopping the shipment before the parts can be transferred to Chinese freighters.

Review
Interesting story with some very good scenes. The opening scenes of the mysterious "ghost plane" are not done with great special effects skills, it's quite obvious that a model is being used. Unfortunately these days it is very noticable and annoying than it may have been 30 years ago. The episode is well paced with a tight plot that flows well with all characters having some great moments. Craig and Richard's final scenes are very good, and Sharron being frozen is also memorable. Her reaction when seeing Richard after is nice. Richard uses his powers of telepathy very well at one stage. He desperately needs to talk to Craig but doesn't know where he is, so he concentrates on the phone number of a nearby telephone, Craig recieves the thoughts and walks to the closest phone booth and dials the number.

An interesting remark is made by Tremayne. He tells Sharron that Nemesis has over 20,000 people on file, people from all over the world and in many different organisations. This shows the vast resources of the organisation.

Very good episode. The plot unfolds well so that a steady build up of action and drama works to make the climax great.
