The Gun-Runners
Written by Dennis Spooner | Directed by Robert Asher

Prologue
Sharron exits a nightclub to find her car is blocked by two other cars, bumper to bumper. Two drunken men decide to help out her out, but when they have trouble pushing it out, Sharron pulls the car out with one hand.

"When Craig Stirling, Sharron Macready and Richard Barrett crashed in the snows of Tibet and encountered the lost people, they could not even have imagined the powers they would be given. Sharron Macready, one of the Champions: intelligent; beautiful, now like Richard and Craig she is endowed with the senses and qualities of a super human. Craig, Sharron and Richard, the three Champions of law, order and justice. Able to use their gifts to their best advantage as operators of the international agency of Nemesis."

Synopsis
While investigating a cache of Japanese arms discovered in a Burmese jungle, Craig is captured and imprisoned. Before he can break out, the arms are put aboard a plane bound for Central America. When the plane doesn't arrive at it's destination, the champions begin a search which leads to their capture by a notorious arms dealer.

Review
A good episode, though uneven. Craig works mainly alone on this mission with Sharron and Richard helping him behind the scenes "unofficially". While Craig works with the Burmese police chief, Richard and Sharron both snoop around and aid Craig and give him information which not even the local police have found out. Unusually for a Dennis Spooner episode, the interest is not kept all the way through the episode. There are many good parts but the excitement generally dissipates as the story goes along.

One great scene is when the three agents are killing time in Tremayne's office. They sit bored and depressed with nothing to do. Richard then throws his cup into the bin for entertainment. He's pleased with his accuracy. Sharron then tops him by throwing her cup into the bin and into Richard's cup. Craig then tops them all by flicking his cup with his forefinger, the cup flips and twists and makes a perfect entrance on top of the other two cups! They then share contemptuous glances.

The introduction is also quite funny. Sharron finds her car stuck bumper to bumper between other cars (like the awful "Mentos" advertisement). Two men help out the "damsel in distress" but can't move the car. While they struggle, Sharron goes to the other side and pulls the car out with one hand. The two men then fall face first into a puddle in the gutter.

If the excitement was maintained throughout the second half of the episode then it would have been much better.
