The Silent Enemy
Written by Donald James | Directed by Robert Asher

Prologue
Craig, Sharron and Richard are enjoying the sights and sounds of a carnival. However, the guys get distracted by a pretty woman who is playing the throwing rings game. Craig walks up, takes the rings and thows a perfect game, much to the dislike of the man in charge.

"All the fun of the fair; the big rides and games of skill, but for Craig Stirling, Sharron Macready and Richard Barret, these games no longer have the element of chance. Craig, Sharron and Richard endowed with super qualities and super skills, some trivial and some crucial. Endowed by an unknown people when their plane crashed near a lost civilisation in Tibet. Now with their secret known only to them, they're able to use their powers to their best advantage as the Champions of law, order and justice. Operators of the international agency of Nemesis."

Synopsis
A nuclear submarine is found off the coast of Ireland with it's crew dead with no explanation of what happened. The three agents are selected to go aboard and reconstruct the voyage on a new submarine with a new crew who are unaware of what happened to the previous vessel. When the submarine is damaged by striking an underwater reef, it surfaces close to an island surrounded by a deadly green mist. Richard and Craig go to investigate the island and discover a scientist experimenting with chemical warfare.

Review
Interesting premise and good characters make this a above average episode. The majority of the episode takes place onboard the submarine, which is quite dramatic, with a strange climax on the island which lets down the episode a little. The villain is very good, but one of the best bad guys of the series, the minister, is excellent. It is actually quite sad when he gets killed, since he is such a loser, you can't help but feel sympathetic to him.

A very funny beginning and end make you forget most of the story deficiencies. The post-titles introduction, that starts every episode except "The Beginning", has Craig, Sharron and Richard at a carnival together. Craig spots a woman playing a game where rubber rings are thrown on a pole and decides to help out. Of course he gets all five rings on the pole and wins a prize for her. At the end of the show, in Tremayne's office, Richard and Craig are totally against any suggestions of being looked at by a doctor on Tremayne's advice. However, they change their mind quite quickly when the doctor, a young blonde women, walks in the door. Craig and Richard run after her out the door and bump into each other on the way out. Sharron amused by the pathetic display, has a good laugh and sits on Tremayne's desk, he then looks at her sitting so close and makes it clear that her position on the desk is not appropriate.
