The Championship game for the men had Gene Sallee of Tipton jumping to a 3 point lead over Wayne Wright of Edinburgh by the end of three frames. Wayne took the lead in the fourth frame. Wayne increased his lead to 8b points at the end of the eleventh frame. Gene made a come back and took the lead by 1 at the close of the sixteenth frame. The pitchers were tied in the seventieth and ninetieth frames. The Twentieth frame Wayne got the lead by 3 points. With one frame to go Wayne had the lead. Gene was trailing with one frame to go. He had the first pitch and knew he had to throw doubles to have a chance at the victory. Gene showed the top form he had all day and threw the need doubles. Now the game depended upon Wayne's final two shoes. Wayne need four points for the win. Wayne's first shoe missed the peg, but landed for a point. The whole tournament rested on the last shoe of Wayne's. Wayne threw his last shoe and it went on to beat Gene by one point.
