The bugs in the tribe Halyini have the typical shield shape body. They are
usually from brown to dark brown in colour, with triangular-shaped
scutellum.    There are quite a number of different genera Halyini shield bugs in Brisbane Eucalyptus
forest.  Most of them are the typical shield-shaped and look similar. They include
    the genera Poecilometis, Dippilana,
    Anchines, Bathrus,
    Alcaeus, Accarana,
     Platycoris, Theseus
    and Austromalaya. Following listed the bugs in this tribe we found in Brisbane so far;
     Genera Poecilometis -
Poecilometis stink bugs can be distinguished from other similar
genera by  wings longer than abdomen, with wing veins linear and
mostly subparallel, and they have five antennal segments.

    Genera Dippilana - looks
similar to Poecilometis, but can be distinguished by the presence
of four (appearing as five) antennal segments.

    Genera Anchises
      - looks similar to Poecilometis, but can be distinguished by
the wing veins. There is only one Australian species in Genera Anchises.  Genera Bathrus - The bug
looks similar to Poecilometis, but can be distinguished by the wing
vein. There is only one Australian species in Genera Bathrus.  Genera Alcaeus - This genera
resemble the Poecilometis genera, however, its front wings membrane
veins is reticulate instead of linear. There are four species in this
      genera.

Genera Accarana - There is only
one Australian species in Genera Accarana. The bug was brown in
colour with metallic green spots on connexiva.

    Genera Platycoris - The
stink bug has a round and thick body, brown in colour with typical stick
bug colour pattern. There is eight Australian species in Genera Platycoris.

    Genera Theseus
      - We found one species in this genera. This species looks very similar to
the Shield Bug in genera Poecilometis except with
wings shorter than abdomen and the wing veins are different.

    Genera Austromalaya
      - This shield bug looks very similar to the shield Bug in genera Poecilometis.
We distinguished it by its wing veins.
