With a 29:1 gear ratio, .5" shaft to axle distance and a Pittman DC-60 motor; the speed at 12 V was above 100 SMPH. Although, on rare occasions, the H9 was used in passenger service at about 60 MPH; it would probably not hold the track much above this. Do to the center distance and the tight motor fit, repowering presented a major problem. With the replacement of the motor magnet with a new Neodymium one the problem can be solved. The DC-60 CONVERSION is relatively easy. For some strange reason, a .015" washer was required at the rear screw hole location the obtain proper gear mesh. Running light, preliminary testing revealed a speed of about 63 SMPH @ 12 V. This is more in line with normal running.
