There's not much to say about Wayne's World that you don't already know. Everyone's seen it and everyone loved it, although I was surprised that it only got 6.6 on IMDB. The bad points from what I have read from people's reviews are: Tia Carrere and Rob Lowe's acting (I totally agree with the latter) and not much character development but Wayne and Garth are instantly likeable so it works. However, the funny scenes and general funniness of the whole film more than compensate for these flaws to make a brilliant movie and as ever with funny movies that I like here are some of my favourite quotes: Wayne: So, do you come to Milwaukee often? Alice Cooper: Well, I'm a regular visitor here, but Milwaukee has certainly had it's share of visitors. The French missionaries and explorers began visiting here in the late 16th century. Pete: Hey, isn't Milwaukee an Indian name? Alice Cooper: Yes Pete, it is. In fact, it was originally an Algonquin term meaning "the good land." Wayne: I was not aware of that. Alice Cooper: I think one of the most interesting things about Milwaukee is that it is the only American city to elect three socialist mayors. Wayne: [to the camera] Does this guy know how to party or what? Tiny: Wayne! How you doin'? Wayne: Hey Tiny, who's playing today? Tiny: Jolly Green Giants and the Shitty Beatles. Wayne: Shitty Beatles? Are they any good? Tiny: They suck! Wayne: Then it's not just a clever name. Miktita's Manager Glen: [to the camera] I'd never done a crazy thing in my life before that night. Why is it that if a man kills another man in battle it's called heroic, yet if he kills a man in the heat of passion it's called murder. Miktita's Manager Glen: You know, if you stab a man in the dead of winter, steam will rise up from the wounds. Indians believed it was his soul escaping freom his body. Wayne: Am I supposed to just turn my back and leave, am I supposed to be a man? Am I supposed to say, it's okay, I don't mind, I don't mind? Well I mind, I mind big time! And you know what the worst part of it all is? I never learned to read! Casandra: Is that true? Wayne: Yes, everything except the reading part. |
