This movie isn't a patch on the original, there are fewer jokes and of the jokes that are in the movie are on the whole not as funny and some just don't work full stop. However it still has some excellent bits in it - the kung fu bit is definitely the best scene in the movie and others such as the scene when they are ordering from that burger place and the bit with Glen the owner of Mikita's restaurant are also worthy of a mention but unlike the first movie there were far fewer really funny scenes like these, the memorable moments and quotes from the first movie far outweighed those in this one. Wayne's World 2 is basically the same movie as Wayne's World, the story for this one is similar in that they have a mission to complete but this time instead of getting Mr Big to see the band play they have to organise a festival called Wayne Stock. Seeing the story of the first movie done again slightly different is what made the story suck and blow at the same time. They obviously thought "why change a winning formula," if people liked Wayne's World then a second one that was similar would be a big success and they were right. But unfortunately this kind of thinking is what usually makes sequels lesser films than the originals because what you are basically doing is capitalising on the success of the first movie and often, as in this case, the sequel looks forced, rushed and contrived and this is why you end up with a movie that is nowhere near as good as the first. |
