Hello and
welcome to the Cabrini Crier! Please make yourself at home, grab a
cup of coffee or tea and settle in for awhile.
If you're a little
curious about this site and how it appeared, who created it, etc,
please read on. If you're not, you can use the back button
on your browser or use the links at the left. Or if you want
to leave the web site altogether let me suggest a good place to
start: www.google.com
The
Cabrini Crier, online edition was introduced in the first week of January 2002. The original edition which appeared in 1985
(but don't quote me on that!) was typed, then copied and sold to
students wishing to read the latest school events, interviews and student
gossip.
This version is no
different except that it now exists to help those who want to contact one another, to share a
few of those old high school memories, and possibly explore the
opportunity for a Cabrini reunion. The web site is
here for your use, to entertain your ideas and welcomes any
suggestions you may have. You can also participate by
contributing photos and/or stories, submitting your name to the
former student list or through signing the register. If
you happen to submit photos or articles, etc, your name will also
appear with them.
Please note:
If you sign the register but don't use the form to submit your
name to the former students list it will not be added. The
register is too cumbersome for this purpose, whereas the form
makes the process of adding your names a little easier.
For those of
you who are wondering where the idea came from for this site you
can blame www.classmates.com !
However, unlike classmates.com I'm not expecting you to pay a
hefty fee to contact your old friends. This service is
free.
And for those wondering who created the site,...
Hi, I'm Martha
Collier. I attended Cabrini High School from
1980-1987, graduated in '86 but went back for extra courses or
maybe it was because I loved it so much!
A year ago I came
across an old Cabrini school crest, in a basket along with other crests from schools in the
area, at a shop on Broadway. These must have been a
left-over supply from the jackets that once used to proudly display
them. Feeling a little sentimental and seeing they were only
a
dollar, I bought the only two Cabrini crests remaining and
brought them home. One of them is displayed here throughout
the site, the other was sent to my sister, Christine, in
Louisianna. Out of a family of seven, five of us attended
Cabrini, starting from the oldest to the youngest, they are:
Madonna, John, (skip me, you already know!), Christine and
Andrea. Some of you may remember them or were in the same
class together.
It was
with an interest in making web pages and wondering where our
former friends and classmates had all migrated to that I started
out making this web
site. So far it's been a real pleasure
developing and seeing it come to life as well as hearing from many
of you ...I'm pleased with its
progress in this, just a short time, and hope you will be
too. Enjoy!
All the best,
Martha Collier
