The headline read "Two Capitol Officers Slain by Gunman". Never before has the nation’s attention be attracted to the story of two police officers being murdered in the line of duty. Why are these two different? In many ways they aren’t different. But Congressman DeLay pointed out at least one difference in his speech before the House. These are the first Capital Police Officers ever murdered in the line of duty in the department’s 170 year history. These men freely gave their lives so that others may go on with theirs. The problem of cop murderers has been carried inside the halls of the Capital Building.
You may wonder why I use the term "cop murderers" instead of the media stressed "cop killers". The media’s choice for it takes away from what it really is. MURDER! Men and women are doing their job, protecting you and me from the dirt and scum of society. And sometimes this scum gets the nerve to shoot at our Protectors. And sometimes one of them dies. To knowingly take the life of another human being is called MURDER. Plain and simple. And when some scumbag takes the life of one of the brave men and women who make our streets safer, well, that scumbag needs to be taken care of. All too often some judge and/or jury lets them off, because of a technicality or prison overcrowding or whatever. In my book, that is NO excuse. These scumbags need to be dealt with. A public hanging sounds pretty good. Or let the grieving Officer’s family take care of him. But no 10-20 year sentence, no life sentence, no death sentence with years and years of appeals. As soon as the scumbag is found guilty, then and there.
In today’s society, the public is taking too much for granted. They whine and complain about how the police keep screwing things up. Racism, police brutality, civil rights offenses. Whine, whine, whine. The public continues to gripe about this which only makes the Officer’s job harder. It’s not enough that they have to put up with the public, but they also have to try to stop what the public caused. Yes, today’s street crime is the public’s fault. Too much pity, too much tolerance, and too much indifference. The public is one of the biggest reasons that street crime today has gotten to the point that it has. And the public refuses to see the TRUTH. If the public continues to turn their heads to the real problem, if they continue coming up with all the bull crap reasons and lousy solutions, it'’ gonna get A LOT worse. Today, many jails are forced to shell out lots of money for luxuries for the inmates. Many things that most Americans don’t get. Cable TV, hot meals, air conditioning, a roof over their heads, an education, medical care. How many of you have these available to you whenever you want? And yet a scumbag who has broken laws, or been charged with breaking laws gets this whenever he/she wants. Where is the justice? A jury finds a man guilty, the judge sentences him to death, and the scum gets to appeal that decision for years and years to come. All the while you and I are paying for that man to live. In the jails and prisons, it has come to the point that the scum have more rights than the Officers guarding them or arresting them.
The point I’m trying to make here is simple. Officers are there to try to make your life as safe as possible. They guard your home, keep the highways safe, and try to do it all with a smile too. They are fighting a WAR on our own home soil. Are you doing your part? Are you supporting them? Or are you whining and griping about any little slip up that happens? Things need to change. Don’t be a part of the problem. Be a part of the solution.
Officers who are murdered in the line of duty were there for you. They took the bullet so you wouldn’t have to. The two Capitol Officers showed true valor and put themselves between the scumbag’s bullets so that others wouldn’t lose their life. Would you be willing to give your life for someone you didn’t know? America’s Police Officers are doing it all the time. They are True Heroes. They leave behind family and loved ones who have to deal with the loss, the pain, and then have to deal with the public’s indifference. Do your part, support your American Police Officers. They kick scumbag butt so you won’t have to.
It’s easy for some to place the blame in the Officer. "He didn’t do this right" or "He shouldn’t have been there to begin with". To these people I would like to offer some advice…….Shut your stinking, garbage filled mouth! You have not been called to duty, nor received the training, nor have the guts to be out there. All of you who complain about "the stupid cop that pulled me over for speeding" or "the idiot cop who stuck his nose where it didn’t belong", you have no idea what you are suggesting. In America we have what is known as Democracy. This brings us great freedoms, and rights. But along with it comes rules. If you don’t like the rules, go somewhere else. I have no room for anarchists in MY country. You want a place with no rules, search elsewhere. Our Officers are there to protect, and to serve. And that’s what they do. If an Officer gets murdered, don’t place the blame on him/her. Place the blame where it truly falls. The scumbag that that murdered the Officer. The scumbag is to blame. Not the Officer. They do their best not to get murdered, but sometimes even scumbags get lucky.
To the families of Officer Jacob "J.J." Chestnut and Officer John Gibson, you may not understand the reasons for the murder, or why you loved one did what he did. But let me say that they were both great people, great officers, and great human beings. It is hard to understand why such a tragic thing may have happened. But rest assured that they did their duty, and for this you should be proud.
To all of those who have fallen in the line of duty everywhere. And those who are left behind to carry the load. To Serve and Protect. Keep the faith. May God have mercy on all the scumbag’s souls.
