My
latest misadventures
I have not put up any recent news in a
while due to not much happening. I am teaching a new class at WCC: CIS
100 - Introduction to Computers. It is going OK but it is not nearly a
good class yet. I hope to teach it a couple more times so that I can polish
the lessons and have a really nice program for the students. That'll be
something I've never done before! :]
My Kids
Dorian and Galen are doing great. Dorian
recently had a speaking part in a school presentation. He was the only
kid to have his part memorized and to get applause. Galen surprises all
of us with is knowledge of American Sign Language. His pre-school teacher
shows them a new word every day and he now has quite a vocabulary in ASL.
Aikido
I finally passed my first kyu test in
October. (It is the rank just below black belt.) I still have not decided
if I should shoot for the Black belt test in November. In March I also
passed the mid-term examination in Kenshu, a series of seminars for in-depth
Aikido study. We have a demonstration 3:30pm April 1st at the Ann Arbor
Sports Colosseum.
Music
Soylent
Green has recorded a couple more songs, one of which I wrote. I do
not have the files from Dana yet (he just moved and his computer is still
in a box). We are also practicing to play out soon. I'll have dates up
when we finalize the performances.
Pipe Dream Projects
I have a new acoustic cover song page
almost finished. I just need to get the RealAudio files off of my old computer.
The Soylent Green strategy game now exists and functions to a certain extent,
though it is missing a few limbs and on life support. I'll let everyone
know when it is in its official beta version so that it can be debugged
further. I have also been working on an interactive site about the history,
creation and playing of computer games. When it gets done I want it to
be a centerpiece for other hands-on educational material and have a section
where people can buy educational toys. It is ambitious, but I just can't
seem to help myself :] I have also been creating some virtual reality content.
My first project is a virtual aquarium with an ammonite
(an extinct cephalopod: it looks like a squid with a shell) floating in
it.
