View to the north from Headwaters Hill
As I said on a previous page, the view to the north from
Headwaters Hill is obscured by the forest. So this panorama is what
you can see as you emerge from the trees about halfway down the slope
towards unnamed 11,545'. Mount Ouray dominates the scene in this
direction - it's just a few feet shy of being a 14,000' peak
(see map). In the foreground, you
can see the dirt track at the far left - that continues down and
joins with the Colorado/Continental Divide Trail.

In this photo, the Continental Divide follows the ridge from the
middle left side, down to the right, and up to the top of 11,545'.
From there, it goes back towards the left. The Divide goes across the
shoulder on the left (west) side of Ouray (there's a foreground tree
between it and Ouray). Water to the left of that line drains into the
Gunnison and the Colorado. Water to the right flows into the
Arkansas.
