Soundzone Throws Unbeatable Parties
The first Soundzone was held in Vanessa in June of 1995. Members of a local goof-off rock band decided to come together and hold a big outdoor show that would attract people from all over. That band never went anywhere, but the show did go on. Pilate, Floater, Hazy Daze and the Cosmic Boogie Band played to about 800 people on a night that worked out surprisingly well. The initial success made it impossible not to do it again; August 1995 saw Pilate, Hazy Daze, the Cosmic Boogie Band, Grindhouse and Ross Tracey come together in Vanessa and play to 1200 fans. A third show was held in September of last year with some proceeds going to charity. Floater, Shape and Tangled and Weaved playing to 800 people in Vanessa...
Rob from Cartoon Khaki also sees a truck around in Burford that has a Cosmic Boogy Band sticker on it's rear bumper. It's nothing special it just says "Cosmic Boogy Band" in bolded Arial font in black letters on a white background. The orange flatbed truck has had it on for years since 1996. However that sticker has since fallen off the truck and there is another sticker that looks the same with white letters on a red background on a blue truck that was noticed August 2003.
Jamie (the old drummer for Dirge a.k.a. Cartoon Khaki) used to mention this band in late 1994 and early 1995.
