Don't Let A Stranger Touch Your Body

Released August 11th 1995

Recorded at the same time as the Coffee tape (April and May 1995) this album was what was left over that wouldn't fit onto a 30 minute tape. One of the original ideas was to have just one 60 minute album. However we thought it might be a good idea to hold out incase we didn't have anything new in the future. We were making so many songs at this point we thought we could have a new tape out ever month or two. We could have actually easily have done that as well. The next tape Dirging didn't come out until January 21st 1996. This 26 song album made it to the hour long length. That was due to the fact that we couldn't find 30 minute tapes anymore. So we just plopped on our July 28th 1995 live show at the Ex-Imperial on Market Street in Brantford on the B side and left it at that.

The tape cover was of some old guy eating his supper at the McDonald's with his wife July 22nd 1995 on King George Road a couple of years before it caught on fire and they tore it down to make way for the new one. The inside photo was take July 1st 1995 in Ottawa. It is of some Peruvian panpipe band. We actually managed to convince a number of people personally that this was us playing - seriously. People thought the cool person was Jimmy Tseronis.

For the 4-track version of the song Don't Let A Stranger Touch Your Body Jan played Baritone horn. We had a large group of people singing the chorus, Jimmy Tseronis, Irena Tadijanovich, Vince Moya, Jan, Mark and Jeff all sang.

The liner notes written by Jeff were as follows:

Hello and welcome to yet another DIRGE release. This fine offering was recorded at the same time as the last tape, but we sat on it for a while. Well, here's some info on stuff.

Mr. Bumpy is this small green guy, with all the cool dance moves, that kicks ass (two words, kick ass?) We stole one of his songs. His friends names is Squishington, hobbies include eating socks and karaoke. Originally titled "The Things You Make Me Wanna Do" it is the only song you will ever hear with a 6 sec. burp. On this song Jan uses wah wah on his bass, Jeff uses distortion and a pick and Mark hits stuff with his wood. Disco Edna is this funny disco bitch we made up DANCE TO IT!!! (witty huh?) Searching For Giant Squid is something Smithsonian scientists quest for we got the words out of Popular Science. When we made it up, we weren't good 'nuff to play it and Jan says it hurt like a bitch !! But now we can do it (cool) sorta. Don't Worry Be Happy isn't really one of the songs we made up ourselves, but it's happy and upbeat, and it's got discordant 'doo'ing on the chorus. Asshole is cuddle core courtesy of Rob, (I luv it!) Xenophobe is also by Rob, and I think the word in the title means something (or something), ask Rob. Pick-Up Line is this cool rock bluesy type romp specially designed to get chicks (and stuff) If you close your eyes and think real hard you could probably dance to it. During the ska part by moving up and down to the beat (like this) Wal-Mart is a store (dumb ass) that we often harass. Jimmy thought the song sounded like the typical musical played in Wal-Mart, ergo the name (dumb ass) Those are actual Wal-Mart announcements that we taped and if ya listen real good you can hear some guy kickin' the shit out of a little girl half way through the recording of Pee-Break we all simultaneously need to piss real bad, so we stopped playing, but Rob forgot to stop the tape thus the distasteful sounds of Dirge pissing are caught on tape incidentally don't cross the streams is a direct reference to Ghostbusters (Cocahontas) Trilogy pt. 2 is about gay people, and mountain bikes (think about it tuff guy) Don't Let A Stranger Touch Your Body has real meaning. It's like about how if there's a guy you don't know, or like a girl, and he or she is like trying to touch you in a way that makes you feel kinda uncomfortable and like ya start squirming and stuff don't let 'em do it. Smoky like this cool tune but objects to the word cream in conjunction with belly. Although this song portrays strangers as being male, in reality there are stranger chicks too, that likewise should be prohibited from touching your body in ways that make you feel uncomfortable. Disconnected (Face to Face) does not appear on this album due to import regulations, sorry (yeah) Trilogy pt. 3 is our deepest song to date. It relates to the tale of a courageous young teenage boy named Jeremy whose dad beats him so he took off his shirt and ran to the forest to do his art work and that's why he shot himself at school cuz daddy didn't give attention to the fact that mommy didn't care King Jeremy the wicked, rules this world man!
